Gone down in my estimation deliberate acrobatic dive and nobody touched him it conned ref and he gave a penalty what happened to Var
ref looks at Var for Sheffield goal keeper and gives a penalty Liverpool and Salah never looked at it this game is totally corrupt
Also the commentator says [about the Chelsea penalty] "that can't be a penalty because it's the momentum of the Goalkeeper has taken him into the attacker" That'll be a penalty then....
He was fouled but he also dived. If he’d tried to stay up he probably wouldn’t have got the pen even though it was one
I thought the Liverpool one wasn't just flicked his arm n' he went down like he'd been shot when he could have squared it to Sane. The Werner one at Sheffield was for me. Just clumsy by the keeper.
wouldn't have taken any trying to stay upright though , it was only a ‘technical’ foul he felt somebody touch him and dived but the contact wasn’t enough to affect him at all imho
Agree. People brush my arm in the bus queue but I don't fall over. I think VAR need to look into how the human body works and correlate how a brush on the arms stops legs from moving coherently.
The more football I watch the less I like it. The fact that the Salah one is technically a penalty is all that's wrong with how the modern game is played. The touch on his arm had zero impact in him and did not impede him at all. I remember when we used to joke "it'll be a none contact sport" well we are nearly there now.
He went down in mine three years ago.... https://www.skysports.com/football/...dyrov-say-gay-rights-and-equality-campaigners
The big problem is that penalties are not given if you don't fall down so as soon as a player feels any contact , he falls over. How many times have fans said, " He should have gone down" when a player has been kicked whilst going forward?
How many times has Woodrow gone down with his arms in the air when he could have shot or squared it to Chaplin only for the referee to wave play on? It's swings and roundabouts.
I believe that in the modern "game" players are actually coached to react to contact and at least 50% of the free-kicks given are for clumsy tackles rather than intentional fouls.
The way to solve this problem with free-kicks and penalties, play acting etc is the referee invites both coaches and captains into his office an hour before kick-off and sets out what he wants from both sets of players.
Thats not quite true someone did touch him the defender attempted to pull him back. Now I dont for one moment doubt he could have stayed on his feet but that's not the point - the defender attempted an illegal act and did pull a bit. In todays game Salah can either continue in which case there is no chance of a pen - or go down as if shot and hope the ref buys it I dont like the fact that thats a pen but far more blatant offences go unpunished but I am sure the VAR ref looked at it and agreed with the on field ref there was enough contact for the penalty to stand. As for the Bluts pen of course it was a pen striker pushed the ball past ramsdale then got flattened by an out of control sliding keeper - no idea why VAR was even needed
Sorry I didnt make it clear - yes VAR was needed because the refs guide dog was looking the other way I should have said no idea why it needed VAR to intervene to overturn a clear refereeing error, it shouldn't have been required. It was a case of it being used correctly. In fact the blunts suffered twice both times where the ref got things wrong in their favour and both times correctly overturned.
The bit I don’t understand why wasn’t the player sent off also? I thought if not a genuine attempt to play the ball pulling someone back is the very definition of that?
I assume due to covering defenders he wasn't clean through with only the keeper to beat but there were other defenders around as well
The point I was making, is why was Var not used It was used at Sheffield why not with Salah I have looked at it a few times and no way was Salah impeded to warrant the most blatant dive he looked as though he had been shot
I also thought that & was puzzled when it was not looked at , at the time of the incident my first comment to my son was that the decision would get overturned but it never happened
