I wanted it to work for him here and had high hopes but he's not worked out at all, hopefully can find a move that suits all parties
Both Cosgrove and Bensons contracts expire in the summer so we might let them go now for next to nothing just to get them off the books sooner and use the wages elsewhere if possible. imagine they won’t have many suitors willing to take them on their current wages though so the players might want to wait until the summer.
We signed him on a 3yr deal apparently unless the article I have found from when Cosgrove joined is wrong.
Cossy did make me chuckle towards the end of the game Saturday, when he attempted to control a slow, low bouncing pass to him, and the ball actually knocked him over. Great for four games towards end of last season, and I really wanted him to get established, but am sorry, he just looks lost now. Palmer, the Wrexham big lump who started Saturday was 10x the hold-up man Cosgrove is, yet he got pilloried by his own fans for being crap. Oh, for that level of crapness.
Maybe a Scottish club might take Cosgrove given his record at Aberdeen. Not sure about Benson having any suitors with his injury record.
He signed a two year deal with the club option of a third (which I assume we won’t be taking out). https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66689972.amp
Will surely be a move north of the border for Cosgrove. After those playoff games last season I was hoping he’d take that into this season and be our main man. How wrong. Benson is a weird one because I really like him and think he has great ability. Just a huge shame his body is letting him down. Given it says in the chronicle he is one of our highest earners, I’m not surprised we are trying to find him a new home though.
