On radio Sheffield now. Thinks we've underperformed in terms of points on the board. Should be further up the table. He's always wanted to make the move permanent since coming in. Hoping something gets sorted, but it's out of his hands and he just wants to crack on till January. Gutted that he isn't going to African Cup of Nations. More down to paperwork rather than not being picked. Needs to be made exempt from national service in Egypt before he can be picked again. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
Good news for us that he's not off to the African Cup of Nations. He's been quality recently. Hopefully signed up soon.
This "crack on until January" business - I don't understand what that means. He's on a season long loan, so why doesn't he "crack on until May"?
I think he means until the window opens and then he can sort his future out. The gist was that it's out of his hands and is something he isn't concentrating on until he can make a deal permanent. In the meantime he just wants to play at his best for us. Spoke really well to be fair to him. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
Don't we have an option to sign him in January? I'm not actually sure about the details of the loan deal.
Hope we have an option, because he's top notch, and Hecky thinks so because money should be no problem.
That may explain it, either way I hope we sign him either in January or in the summer. A top player for us, can't wait to see him at our annual Wembley trip.
Football Manager reckons we have the option to sign him for £500k. No idea how factually accurate that is.
In the window he can be recalled yes. And the problem is that it was their previous manager who said that Sam "should look for another club". He again reiterated that point yesterday. Which means the current manager might want to have a look at him. Considering how well he's done for us and how poorly Wigan are performing, he might still get his opportunity at Wigan. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
He doesn't want to go back to Wigan and they can't recall him if we've paid a fee for him to come for the season.
That was a fantastic comment. What a brilliant attitude to hear and especially from a loan player. I believe most of us would have taken where we are in the league after promotion. Especially after the struggles we had the last time we were in the championship. But why not try and push on? Gotta be an omen that the last match of the season could yet again be away at the league champions......
most improved player for me this season. if we can get him on a permanent, it takes the pressure off needing to keep hold of josh. obviously i'd love to keep josh as well
