I think you can get Each Way odds as well so its almost risk free.

 

You bet on him winning it, which is half the bet and then the other half is for him to be placed (Say in the top 4 in the table). So an example would be £5 each way, £5 is bet on him winning it at 6/1 and £5 is bet on him being in the top 4. Which means the full bet costs £10.

If he wins it you would get £35 back for winning (6/1 = 6*£5 plus your £5 stake back).
Then you would get £7.50 back for him being placed in the top 4. (Which is 6/1 at a quarter of the odds)

If he wins it you'd get the full £42.50. But if he just gets in the top 4 you'd get just £7.50 back which almost covers your bet.
