I listened to the match yesterday via the web and the impression I got was of a completely negative approach to the game tactically and (Colgan excepted) ineptidude all round, however, here are Simon Davey's post match comments - was it the same game? "I am very disappointed with the result really. I thought we were well in the game until Wolves scored their first one. "We had our chances but again could not put them away and were punished on the break. "We played pretty well in the first half and soaked up a lot of pressure before countering well. We had our chances and counter attacked well. Nick (Colgan) made a great save from the penalty and I was fairly comfortable at half time. "We went 4-5-1 because we wanted to soak up what Wolves could throw at us and hit them on the break. We did that in the first half pretty well and were unlucky not to score. "Goals change games and we have to put our chances away".
Yes We all commented on that yesterday including myself I feel today, the same as I did yesterday, utter utter despondency about our beloved club and the way forward. Davey's inability or stubborn unwillingness to change a game plan that clearly wasn't working makes me even more worried Last night I felt about as low as I could get about our Club and that includes the dreadful time in Admin etc. I can't see a light at the end at all, only relegation to Div 3 and all our best players leaving. Totally gutted, even Owly has commented about my despondency
RE: Yes A group of us were in Australia when we heard of Ritchie's sacking! Went away and we were playing great football, can put up with losing if its good to watch, we have come back and its garbage. I said then it was the worst decision that are board have ever made. Basically they relegated us. He was right when he said, what is the point in signing players that are no better than what we have got, i.e McCann, Reid and Knight. Now we have Davey, another safe, low cost option.
