Info required please for a (very) non-technical bloke.

If I wanted a satellite navigation system (road maps); a gps for mountain walking in the UK; a PDA; mobile phone; ability to send and receive e mails -

Is there a device which incorprates all the above?

If not, how many devices would I need?

    Any (reasonable) advice/information/recommendations gratefully received.

    Quite simply a PDA.

You have a mount in your car (SAT NAV & maps bit) and/or pair it with a satellite GPRS phone (Mountains or anywhere in the world).

    Look on EBAY!!

    RE: So basically

    That's it buddy!

Ring them and they'll talk you through all of it.

You can drive anywhere in the world and walk anywhere and the satellite will detect you and show u the way home!!

    RE: So basically

the satellite doesnt really detect you, your sat nav works out where you are by comparing the signal from several sattelites.

    Alternatively

If you want to be able to pick up your emails on your pda/phone and surf the web on the go then i'd go with somehting like:

    http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handset/orange_spv_m500/detail/pay_monthly

or one of these if you want a 3g (faster) web connection http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handset/orange_spv_m5000/detail/pay_monthly (I've got one of these).

and then the only other hardware you need is a blueooth GPS receiver which you can get for about 40 or 50 quid on ebay.

so where does the bluetooth phone come into the equation?

Is it required for the sat nav functions?

Where do you get the sat nav software?

This is essentially a mobile running windows so you can very docs, emails etc. They also do a sat nav software extra so it'll do the job without a seperate phone.

It's got a built in keyboard too so you don't have to bother with all that texting thumb ache stuff.
