I got the Tom Tom 300 just before Christmas.

    Quite happy with it.

It allows you to go to a street, address or even a postcode. You can also feed your home postcode in, so that if you want to go home from anywhere unfamiliar, all you have to do is press the home button instead of feeding your address in. It also keeps a memory of past destinations so you can use them again without keying them in.

It will also find petrol stations (not necessarily open ones) and do alternative routes. Also has night settings, giving you a less gaudy screen in the dark.

Small niggles, like sometimes you can be asked to go up cart tracks, and of course it is only as good as how up to date it is. You get an email from Tom Tom to tell you when the updates are ready and you can download all the latest changes etc. Also you have to get used to the lingo, like "cross the roundabout, first exit" , when actually she doesn't mean cross the roundabout at all. Also "keep left" and "bear left" don't always mean the same as "turn left".

In addition to the voice, theres a good display screen which shows exactly where you are, names the streets, and displays a big arrow showing you which road to take. It also tells you how many miles / yards to your next turning and which direction to go in.

I have actually got quite abusive with the silly cow at times, but she is very patient and never swears back at me.

I have used mine several times and am quite happy with it.

Got the TomTom One for moving to Spain with, without it we´d either be lost a lot or stuck at home for fear of getting lost. Dead easy to use.
