I have one, but very rarely use it. I used it once last season and that was the last time!

Had one and now its navigating its way to the tip what Barnsley council use nowadays....

Lent it to a mate, he got sick of her voice so he put it into the nearest Wheelie bin....

Had the decency to phone and ask me first though!! which i thought was reasonable. Not good in my opinion sat nav's, I'll stick to sticking my neck outta the van window and asking anybody whats walking by for directions....

Got a Tom Tom One as it was one of the cheapest. Wouldn't be without it.

Depends on what travelling you do. If, like me, you tend to do the same route to work and back with only the occasional journey to places you don't normally go then probably not worth it. If you do a lot of travel on new routes then will be well worth it.

Bought one about 3 months ago and haven't used it yet. Bit of an impulse buy when I saw a bargain. Can't wait to go to an away game I don't know my way to, just to give it a go. Save your money and just use online routefinders.

I'm a rep and so do a lot of miles but never thought I needed one as I knew my area pretty well.Last year my firm got me a Nuvi and it turned out to be a real eyeopener saves me hours of time and miles of travelling by taking minor routes and a more direct line. Its also dead easy to use.

    Do they...

...work straight out of the box or do you need to subscribe to a service?

    RE: Do they...

Straight out of box. Everything pre-installed (ie UK maps), although you can buy extras to install. I think some models do have a subscription to some extras but not essentials. Go to Halfords and they will install and demonstrate for you.

    Wouldnt be without mine

Self employed decorator who does a lot of insurance work in Bradford. Bloody big city of terraced streets that look the same. Even with a decent knowledge of the area finding some addresses would be a nightmare without tomtom.

    From what I read...

I think mobile phones will have a GPS function together with satnav software as standard before long and so I'm waiting for this to happen. It would be quite a neat device then.

You can get them already so I am sure you are right, they will be popular soon.
