Up to half price Sat Navs in Halfords.
    Never owned one.
    Some have £100 off.
Does it HAVE to be TomTom?
How do you get the traffic updates etc?

    Any info appreciated

Plenty of decent ones about now by other brands but i personally have always found tom toms by far the simplest to use. Tom Toms on there downside do seem to have a tendency to crash if not used for a while. I complained when my did it after warrenty had run out and i got it sported in end and was advised by tom tom to just make sure i updated my version more often and all would be fine.
As regarding traffic updates i believe you have to pay so much a month. Like a subscription i believe. You get download updates then direct from your pc ect. Never had it though to be honest so not sure about that.

Updating the TomTom Maps isn't cheap

In my case, they wanted over £50 to bring my UK Map up to date and provide updates for the next 12 months. I only bought the unit in the summer!

I'm still deciding if this is worth it in my case...
