summed up for me why we are in a false position in the league. we're not a top 6 side, FACT. we're stuck in no mans land, neither being able to mix it with the more physical and organised sides nor good enough to out football them. We have a squad of players that are just not equipped to getting consistent results in this league. When the opposition has an off day (like Gillingham) or come to play football at Oakwell (like Forest), we do ok. More often than not though in this Division, teams will want to limit the amount of football played to a minimum, in the knowledge that if they get at us, we'll self destruct. Donny have players with very little ability, but loads of heart. We have a side of some ability but on the whole, no guts to back it up. If I was going into a fight, I wouldnt want to have to rely on Devaney, Hassell, Carbon, Kay and Nardiello to battle with me. Shuker has spirit, but just aint physical enough. If he has a foot taller, he'd be playing Premiership football. I think people are overlooking the fact that we were losing 1-nil prior to any sending offs, and the goal illustrated our failings perfectly. Austin wrong footed (playing a right footed player at left back) and beaten for pace, defence and keeper jittery on the cross and Kay didnt track his man, leaving him in acres of space to pick his spot. We'll replay that scenario over and over again this season, unless the players that we're waiting to get fit can make a significant difference. I hope they're world beaters, but if Devaney is anything to go by, they'll be no better than what we already have. I'm sure tykeman can put a more positive spin on it, and we can always hide behing the referee being a ******, cos we like an excuse for being hard done by in Barnsley. But in football terms, we're no closer to putting a side together capable of getting promotion than we were 14 months ago.
