Given the opposition and the level that we're competing at, one of the top twenty poorest results in the last 30 years?

    Quite possibly

although the Glynn Hodges tenure was pretty dire, but Saturday burst the bubble of optimism that was created by the performance against Everton, we're just as bad as last season it would seem, struggling up front, too many similar midfield players, nice possession without real cutting edge and a brittle, leaky dog defence.

    Just trolling.

A blip, after a tough midweek game.

    No more to be said.

No, because despite Rochdale being a tiny club, they have a considerably better team than many in this division. It was, however, as poor a performance as you're likely to see. The 5-1 defeat at Crawley who were relegated must be right up there as far as bad results go.

Dont be too down, Leeds Utd, Sheff Weds, Southampton, Charlton, Nottingham Forest, Coventry and Preston suffered the same fate so you are in decent company.

Sorry, was listening to what Lee Johnson had to say about Saturday, cant believe Scowen said he was too tired to play! Disgraceful that.

Well, in fairness, they did put an extra long shift in on Wednesday as I'm sure you saw. I also think there's a degree of honesty in owning up to that before the game rather than just trying to play and putting in a substandard shift. The wider concern for me is 1) just like every other Summer for the last 5 years, we haven't got our business done early enough (and in fact it appears we atren't going to bother getting any business in at all), leaving us with a substandard squad where we are extremely weak as soon as a couple of our better players (Scowen, Winnall etc) don't start and 2) at this stage of the season it is a bit concerning from a fitness perspective, isn't it?

I see Keith managed to comment this time.

He would have commented whatever the result Saturday. Last season was the 1st he'd faced you since he got sacked and for whatever reason he left the media to his number 2 before and after both games.

I think losing to Crawley on the first day of last season in front of over 10k optomistic home fans was worse. I'd class Rochdale a little bit higher in the pyramid than Croydon **** in town. After that just knew it would be a long season.

There have been a few - but not that many - worse results:

5-1 v Crawley; 1-1 v Cheltenham; 1-1 v Chester; losing to Macclesfield in either the Paint Pot or the League Cup; 0-1 at home to Mansfield; letting in six at Grimsby. Did we lose at home to Northampton, too?

Maybe, if we had any chance at all of being promoted. We haven't. We really haven't. And I don't think we would have got a result against you even with a fresh Scowen.

However, we made quite a bit of money against Everton, particularly as it was on telly. We could have made plenty more had we won the game. Chances are they were going to beat us too of course, but in a one off game, in front of your home support, when it's on telly... stranger things have happened. We've beaten Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle, Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham... in the not too distant past. Everyone but Everton and Arsenal I believe. We came close to doing it again.

Anyway, I can't think of a better way to demotivate one of your best players than leaving him out of the game against the most illustrious opponents we'll play this season.

Of course, the Rochdale game might become very important should we be relegated by one point.

He didn't do any press before both games last season either so nowt to do with the results - unless he's Nostradamus.
