https://12ft.io/proxy?ref=&q=https:...rns-pga-tour-commitment-included-saudi-rebel/ Some big names of former major winners and world number ones on the list competing next week. Easy money for someone like Dustin Johnson and he can't be blamed for not turning it down.
yes, I’m sure he REALLY needs another huge payday when he only gets around £100 million a year in sponsorship alone… good on him, line yer pockets Dustin while hundreds of millions around the world starve. Seriously, how much money do these people need, and I’m sure they really appreciate plaudits from you…
He’s already lost sponsorship of the Royal Bank of Canada but I guess it was paltry compared to what the Saudi’s have enticed him with
Only DJ out of the field announced has any chance of winning a PGA event , it’s a very expensive exhibition event
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...ur-for-breakaway-saudi-backed-liv-golf-series Starts this week at Centurion and has plenty of well known names. It's a plus for the Ryder Cup that Dustin Johnson won't be involved.
This isn't about human rights nor is it about golf or the competition. Its about money. Making as much as they can as quick as they can. Nothing else. If another org came with a bigger offer they would be off. Forget the HuRi part for a moment, their moral standards at ditching the hand that previously fed them says enough.
it's money. pure and simple. these are people who aren't content with the 10s of millions they've already earned, and could continue to earn on PGA. they want more. fk ethics, or morality. just show me the money. and anybody who watches it, or pays to watch it, or is paid to be any part of it, is complicit.
The money involved is staggering. Dustin Johnson getting £100,000,000(I think that's how you write £100m) just for turning up. It is greed, but if you've got no moral compass you are going to take the money.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...ebel-Saudi-golf-tour-reveals-Greg-Norman.html Eldrick turned down a stupid sum of cash. It might have a positive impact over time like WWE have had by going to Saudi Arabia..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWE_in_Saudi_Arabia To help with change and progress you get involved. WWE when they first went to Saudi Arabia couldn't have women involved at all. As they have done more and more shows they had female commentators/interviewers and eventually females wrestled in the main event. Of course the cash involved is obscene and we know Saudi Arabia have awful views on things. Let's just hope stuff like this makes them more forthcoming to change.
The thing is though, and I agree with much of the sentiment above, the PGA actually are raking in billions and billions each year. They aren't the victims in all this. They are even more greedy than the pros who actually make the tour what it is. This reminds me of many other sport break aways. This isn't new.
Spot on … not the first and many to come .. just the end prize rises and rises. Sport and money etc etc etc
Professional golf has always been about money. European players moving to PGA was all about money and now the PGA have been outdone by the LIV tour. This is sport all over, PSG, Newcastle, LIV all examples of money attracting talent. Once money is involved this will alway be a race to the biggest wallet wins. It’s easy to decry professionals chasing money but how many of us would turn down long term financial security? The numbers are eye watering but professional sports people are in a very different sphere.
