Every time I see John Dennis I say hello.........and he dosent know me from Adam......BUT

    JD seems a nice bloke
I just wish that there were a better atmosphere between him and our new directors
All this palava about administration and who Dennis sold the club to has cost Pat Cryne extra millions that could have been spent at the club
Its unfortunate because it would be nice if the experience that JD gained over the years in football could have been used by Shep and PC

RE: When did it go bust? .............about 6 months ago.......BUT LOOK WHAT HE BUILT !!!

A supermarket chain went under that was JDs main client............so JD went bust
Just shows you that through all the good years...........eg........

Carl Tiler.............sold........money spent building the East Stand

Steve Agnew........sold........money spent building the Ponti End Kop Stand

    A season in the Premeirship

Ashley Ward........sold.........money spent building the away end, North Stand

Craig Hignett.........sold.......money spent building the Academy and training facilities

..............during all this time we were in the hands of a bloke that owned nothing more than a corner shop........
.................Well done Mr John Dennis (clap) (clap) (clap)

Pity that the hand over (as in the Blair - Brown tradition) didn't go so well /poo

But I would still welcome the guy back on the board of directors (nodding2fingers)

Glad to say he looked well, gave hime a little hello as he was coming out at the end. He always sat with the fans, even when he worked for the club, which is a credtit to him.

At the end of the Day it was the ITV deal which led us and many other clubs into financial difficulties.

John Dennis being the Chairman at the time took most of the flack, including from me.

Both Spinks and Dennis with their football contacts could have walked away and sat in the directors box at another Club.

Neither of them did that cos they are "True Fans".

I used to work for John Dennis - he was a tyrant as a boss who would put the fear of God into you but I can't fault his dedication to Barnsley FC. He is red through and through. If Barnsley lost a match, he would sack people in the warehouse - anyone, usually the first person he saw!! I was working for him when he became Chairman - that was a great day - he was thrilled to bits ... we didn't get a pay rise though!

    I'ld welcome him back if...

..he spent two days locked in stocks in the oakwell carpark and he provided and ample supply of his very own rotten veg to throw at him.

Then once he had made a public full explanation and apology for the debacle that resulted in administration then perhaps he could work the turnstyles :D

I think the answer is simple...

...being a fan, he let his heart rule his head and over-committed the club financially.

Probably in part due to pressure from the rest of us fans to get some money spent!

Remember also we were shafted by a corrupt TV Company out of money that was supposedly guaranteed.

I think for his football knowledge and contacts alone Mr Dennis would make a very good addition to the Board.

    is it?

Is that why we went into admin when there was at least one man prepared to bail us out?
Is that why the shareholders never got a chance to react?
Is that why he's said bugger all about it since it happened?

Its old ground but Mr Dennis has a lot to answer for IMHO.
