I get them saying that my car tax payment has been declined and that I need to repay it, and of course I do immediately . I can understand how vulnerable people can get scammed given the amount of scammers and scams there are.
I get them saying, I have been videoed watching ‘questionable content’ and asking me to pay some form of currency to stop it being sent to all my contacts.
Obviously one shouldn't click on any links in the emails, but it is worth checking via the proper channels. I forgot to renew the MOT on my van before I went down to France a couple of months ago and it expired while I was away, so my road tax direct debit failed because it won't renew without a record of a valid MOT. I had to check with my insurance and then stay in Ashford and book an MOT appointment for first thing on the morning after I traveled back, then renew my tax online before continuing my journey. Not a pleasant experience.
I always check my bank and lo and behold, it has been paid. I also do a taxed vehicle check to confirm, but thankfully not experienced anything like you have
They are usually pretty easy to spot. The only one that’s come close to drawing me in was one about my icloud being nearly full (isn’t everybody’s) and I it had me looking to see what I might delete to save a bit more storage. No way am I going to pay for more capacity so it was never going to get me.
I got one of those last week. What they don't know of course is that I haven't owned a car for the last 10 years so that one was fairly easy for me to spot [smiley face emoji]
A couple of weeks ago i got a text message saying i had a parking fine,it even had a link to Gov.uk. I ignored it and not long after i got another text message - PAY IT, i knew for certain then it was a scam. But how many will fall for it ?
That's a common one. I got one address to "Dear Pervert" ..... never looked at an adult site in my life, Sir Kier stopped me.
