Why is it , that it's suddeNly become fashionable to knock Darren Moore?? Put it this way, if say we had eeked 6-7 points out of our first few games and Darren Moore had played exactly has he has done so far, I reckon he would have had little if any criticism. FFS - a game of football is won by the team effort - defeats equally are through the efforts - or lack of them - of the combined team not one individual.

Every time I have seen him so far he looks solid, wins everything in the air, doesn't fanny about with the ball and gets rid. Yes, I know he his slow but you can name any player in the current Barnsley team and he will have at least 1 major deficiency.

LETS BACK OFF DARREN AND GET BEHIND HIM PLEASE.

Davey however can go to hell.

I think he had done pretty well...

However, that being said, the defence as a WHOLE is slower than a drugged sloth.

If Souza makes a mistake - neither he can recover nor Moore can sweep up.

If Moore makes a mistake - neither he can revoer nor Souza can sweep up.

In patches, they do well - but they've always got that little 'lapse' that, at this level, will cost us dearly. Something has to be done - maybe employ a sweeper? Yeah, I think that would be worth a go.

Foster as sweeper? Hassell/Van Homoet at right back?

    STANDING OVATION (clap)

Although I must admit, Souza is pretty good in spells.

But like I said before, he's always got a mistake in him, which we can't recover from.

See my 'Sweeper post' on how Barnsley FC should go forward and ultimately get into the Premiership.

Don't think it has to be a sweeper but Foster does have to play in the middle, alongside either Moore or Souza. My own preference would be Moore because he adds a bit of steel to the defence which is what IMHO was missing last season. Maybe Souza could play LB, although I personally think Kozluck does OK.

Agreed. The defence is not the problem. We are not shipping goals; just not scoring any.

Too easy to make him the scapegoat

Because fisrt look at him you think - wouldn't like to tangle with him, but he could be slow.....
When you look at Nyatanga, do you know if he's good in the air? do you know if he's quick or reads the game well? No, you have to find out
    Same with Foster, Souza etc...
Moore's reputation has gone before him & it's costing him dear at the moment. Fans have made presumptions from day 1 and those have been negative... Think he did ok last night - there were worse players on the pitch.

Err...................so far he has looked total crap.

If you can't run you can't play football....................he can't run !! He has hands all over the opposition and is lucky to get away with it.
He is so slow he can't cover for anyone and can't get back in position.

Tell me he is better at CB than Foster or Bobby !!

    With....

...someone quicker beside them to cover when they get out of position, either Souza or Moore are well worth having in the side. I'd probably start with Souza, with the option of bringing Moore on when we're defending a one goal lead with 15 mins or so to go. However, playing them both together is suicide. And as for doing that whilst wasting Foster at full back, don't get me started. Yet another case in point to the squad being basically OK at this level, but the manager having no clue what to do with them.
