    UNITED MAKE LOAN SWOOP
Posted on: Sat 29 Dec 2007

The Iron have agreed to sign Sheffield United defender Mamadou Seck on a one month loan, and he is in contention to line up against Barnsley at Glanford Park on Tuesday.

At six foot three, he is a robust, powerful and versatile player who was signed by the Blades on a free transfer last January but is yet to make a league appearance for them.

The Senegalese international has six caps, and has also had spells with Toulouse, Nimes, AC Ajaccio and Le Havre.

The 28-year-old has also spent time with Turkish side Kayseri.

Seck boosts United at an important time, with Marcus Williams and Cliff Byrne suspended on Tuesday, and the pair of Andy Butler and Izzy Iriekpen facing long-term injury lay-offs.

He played in a reserve match for Scnuthorpe against Sheffield United in December and impressed manager Nigel Adkins sufficiently enough.

All the paperwork has been signed and the deal will go through on January 1, meaning he can play against the Tykes.
