Boro have had a mixed start to the season, and currently lie in 12th. They've won their last 2 home games by 2 goals to nil, which halted a run of 3 home games without a win. They've scored 2 goals in each of their 4 victories this season, which suggests the game will be well and truly dead if Middlesbrough find the net twice (although they did lose 3-2 vs QPR). At the Riverside, our record is sketchy. We've won just 2 of our 9 visits there. And the only league victory coming over 8 years ago. Not much optimism around, and Warnock generally gets the better of us. That being said, I'm going for 0-1 with Woodrow on the scoresheet.
2-0 Boro.. we huff and puff but get no where. Boro are 5hite,but two bits of 5hiteness defending from us and bingo.
2-0 boro. One conceded from a basic long diagonal ball, another conceded after losing possession in midfield. Club respond by giving Schopp a 10 year contract.
Almost word for word what I was going to say. We might score if we get a penalty or Woodrow smashes in a FK but can't see anything other than a loss, again. It's beginning to feel unbelievably Struber-esque, this season.
I’d love us to get the results Struber did in the 19/20 season. I’m not sure if what we’re seeing is comparable to anything we’ve had before. Players having to define their own tactics, same basic issue in defence not being sorted out 12 games in etc. We’ll he lucky to get 0.5 ppg while Schopp remains in charge, and the longer he stays the more I’ll just assume that the club have accepted being a league 1 club
its so obviously going to be 2-0 to Middleborough its hard to predict anything else love to be wrong mid
I've just watched the long highlights reel and although just snippets, we had some good chances and we played some nice football, probably should have had a penalty and hit the post as well as some good saves from their keeper. But ultimately, again undone by a long ball with a defence playing far too high a line and a forward showing composure. I was hoping we might get 3 points from Reading, then consolidate that with a point at the Riverside. I fancy Boro to win though, 1-0. We either need some inspired brilliance or a bit of luck, or both! It never rains but it pours.
This for the foreseeable...." barnsley....nil and whatever the opposition want to get".... in this case...2..0.
To be fair our best chance was brittain hitting the post and woodrows great free kick that brought a good save from there keeper. They had some good chances and brought some good saves from Collins and helik prevented certain goals.
We created some really good situations, but the ball wasn't good enough or a player in space was ignored. Gomes had a couple of moments where he went alone and ignored playing someone in (woodrow and I think jordan williams). We certainly deserved at least a point from that.
We had a great spell just after half time was all us i said if we don't score now we never will. Our best chance in that spell was iseka beating a man crossing and brittain hit the post. Our problem all season has been the lack of goal if we get one when we're on top its a diffrent game. But in the end we concede late again and lose.
I don't think it helps to speak with such absolutism. Of course we'll score another goal. But it's pretty grim right now in every respect. I just don't think the players deserved what they got on Saturday. And I think they are often the hardest defeats to take.
