I got a bit more information about the type of Video Screen the club have quotes for. Sizewise it is 40m2 The quotes from 5 companies are recent and include 10 years parts warranty based on brand new kit, software and equipment that allows replays during the game. The quotes also include fitting. They came in at between £100-135K. If you are going to Brighton tomorrow you will be able to see what a 40m2 VIdeo Screen looks like. By the way the scoreboard is now working again at Oakwell (as well as it did anyroad!)
Do we really need one that big? That's basically the size of the front of your average semi? It will dominate the ground, not in a good way. Plus, I do think that figure is unachievable in anything like the foreseeable future. Can't we have two modest ones either end of the ground so the opposition fans don't lose count of how many they are winning by?
25m squared?? My maths gone to pot then. Only looks like 3m x 2m from the Ponty. I make that 6m squared?
Do we need a fancy video replay scoreboard? What's wrong with a simple one that will show the teams/score/time elapsed?
Club wants (and needs) to entice fans into Oakwell before 3pm. Rowing acknowledged that. Get the bar sorted ASAP and then re-runs of classic games and goals on the screens and they'll start making more money before kick off. Generate some atmosphere too. Gally - any news on application for licence?
It's not square so it's more likely to be about 6x4 - perspective makes it seem smaller perhaps, but if that scoreboard is 6 metres wide, my member is a foot and a half long. Yeah, about right that :-D
More seriously, If they're saying 25 sq m does that include the ad boards either side? Might be about right if so.
From this and other pics I'd be surprised if it were bigger than 2mx4m http://www.wafll.com/wafll-gallery/...leeds_pics/side_view_oakwell-1585-thread.html
There is no way that the current scoreboard is 25m2. It is roughly 1.5 times wider than it is high (from a quick measurement in photoshop from a few front on photo's. That means that the board would have to be 6 metres wide and 4 metres high which in turn means that it wouldn't be far off twice the height of the goalposts. Also from front on photos the board is less than twice the width of the tunnel below it which means that players tunnel would have to be wide enough to drive an artic lorry through it and almost high enough to too. Doesn't seem anywhere near that big to me
I think someone's got their metres and feet mixed up. 45msq is a just little shy of half a penalty box!!
