We've only managed it twice. The Gillingham and Yeovil games. Gone a goal down in five of our eight league games. Huge factor in how things are perceived. Had Jennings scored with that beauty on opening day... Had Hourihane scored against MK... Who knows? We suffered with this same problem under Keith Hill. Difference being, once we conceded back then, it was game over. At least we've fought back a few times already this season. The first goal is vital on Saturday.
Got to agree. We score first and the confidence and football starts coming through. If Hourihane had scored against MK they would never have put 5 past us.
Biggest one for me was scoring in the Crawley game. Score the first in that and I have no doubt we would have won. We were nowhere near our best that day, but I thought we were the better team, unlucky to lose. 3 points from that game would put us 11th in the table, only 2 points outside the play-offs with a game in hand. I'm not too fussed about the MK Dons result. They're better than us and that was compounded by the fact that we made 4 bad mistakes that led to 4 of their goals. If Hourihane had scored early on, like he really should have done, I doubt we would have conceded 5, but I think MK would have still had too much for us. They would have probably scored the winner in the last minute, just like Port Vale, which would have been more depressing than writing the afternoon off to a freak result and a bad day.
