Weird thread this. Genuinely think some of the In-ger-lund brigade are more bothered about Scotland losing than England winning. Small time mentality passed off as ‘bants’.
No it's a response to years of the same from the Scots. I remember wanting to see Scotland do well, I was disappointed when they didn't tmake it through the group with us in 96, wanted them to do well in 98. I was however still at school back then. Then I grew up and saw Scots buying the shirts of our opponents. Basically being jealous of a unsuccessful team. I have worked with a number of Scottish people of the years and the resentment and hatred for England is real. So now I've moved onto just hoping they continue to embarrass themselves!
I am as it goes. Sometimes get a bit competitive if there’s beer pong or a quiz but no-one’s perfect.
Course they won’t. You don’t need to be a history expert to work that out. Scotland will never be a threat. They’re a tiny country with very limited football infrastructure. They’ve played their final by qualifying (nothing wrong with that by the way). Why waste your energy worrying about it? It’s all a bit like Wednesday with us. Apparently we’re not big enough for them to think about yet scratch the surface and they’re pretty obsessed. Point it out and you get the standard “oh, it’s only banter”. Tragic.
Always used to want the the home countries to do well, then with the arrival of social media I realised how much many of them absolutely detest us, the hatred was unreal, i don't hate them btw I get there is good and bad, but my feelings towards the ones with anger and hatred towards us is reciprocated when it comes to absolutely any sport they participate in ( not the hate but I want them to get pumped)
I absolutely don't hate Scotland...I have lived up there a bit and was stationed there back in the 80s. I have many mates from then and still have but there are (probably a majority in my experience) who hate us...and I've witnessed that first hand. I was even lucky enough to watch Scotland v England at Hampden (1..1)...that was very very nasty. That said I'd go tomorow and see my mates and have a great time...there are lots if issues and it tends to transcend sport more. I have an English mate who's a copper in Edinburgh and they are told to have a zero tolerance attitude to it...ie calling you and english/ irish/ polish so and so dunno if its different anywhere else but my mate who's a scouser....does get more than his fair share!!
