Found out today at work from Scott's dad ( via a mutual friend ) , that Scott played in a behind closed doors friendly for Chelsea against QPR and he kept a clean sheet . He's doing specialised one on one training today with Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini .

Just want to send my best wishes and good luck to Scott. Hope he does well and gets what ever he deserves out of it. Even if they dont sign him, he'l have picked up some great tips and experience.

Doesn't sound fair anyway you look at it.

    Yeah..

be great for sitting on the bench

If Chelsea don't sign him, his Barnsley days will be numbered. I can't see him being happy to come back and be Colgan's "understudy"

    Why do you hope that?

I don't understand this whole Flinders thing at all. I'm sure he's a nice lad and everything, and everybody wants him to do really well, but I want him to do well for Barnsley. I don't want him to go to Chelsea. If he decides he wants to do that then I want us to screw as much out of Chelsea as possible.

Maybe I'm a complete heartless Barsteward, but I'm a Barnsley fan a hell of a lot more than I'm a Scott Flinders fan. It's the club I love. I'm not saying I want to screw Scott over, but I want what's best for the club.

We should sign Elvis Costello. He wouldn't go.

Are those boos for the Elvis Costello joke

Or for the fact that I'm not that keen on the idea of us selling our best players?

I do hope all our best players are sold in what's left of the transfer window. They're such lovly lads. We wouldn't want them to be stuck in a hole like Barnsley.

    he' been spotted by chelsea...

...for being a bit of a talent for the future, which is exactly what he is at any level.

he hasn't played well for us when he's been in where as nick colgan has. it simple as.

That's what I mean by benefitting the club as well as Flinders.

If he's good enough to be signed by Chelsea, then they can cough up the requisite transfer fee, or look elsewhere. That befits the wealthiest club the world has ever known - show Gordon the money.

It'd be such a good move for Flinders, and the cash recouped should be more than enough to lever us out of this hellish division.

    Hasnt played well?

He played extremely well at the end of last season
And didnt do too badly when he stepped in for the injured Colgan this - though did make a couple of mistakes. I thnk to say he hasnt played well is extremely harsh

    because we need the money

if they want him then like you say, I hope we screw as much money from them as possible. I probably worded it incorrectly - I think the money we could get from them in the short term could be much more beneficial for the club than holding on to him. He looks a good prospect to me, but you never know what might happen to him, he could get injured, go off the boil etc. If we could get enough money in the short term to get a. a decent new centre back and a decent new leader, probably a midfielder then i think it would be a great bit of business.

its nice to see someone do well and its a great opportunity for him, but my number one concern is getting bfc back in the second division and if we get say £300 - £400k up front for a young lad then we must take it.

    Completely understand that

And I tend to agree if the money we receive is used for new transfers. But the money would have to be right for the club.

    yep

and would have to be spent wisely of course, but rich tea has got a good record in the transfer market. not so sure on spending over 150k for windass, too risky i reckon

But to say he hasn't performed as well as Colgan isn't

He hasn't. He's a great prospect but this season Colgan has been the more reliable 'keeper. Football is no place for sentiment. You play your best, most on form player.
