SCOTT SIGNS UNTIL 2008 BARNSLEY Football Club are delighted to announce that young goalkeeper Scott Flinders has today penned a extension to his current contract keeping him at Oakwell until the summer of 2008. Scott made the breakthrough into the first team at the end of last season and impressed during his eleven appearances. His end of season displays earned a call up to the England U20 squad for last summer's Toulon Tournament, where he went on to win four caps. The giant 19-year-old has been on the bench for the opening four league matches this term and won a further international cap in last week's U20 game in Russia.
Do you think if Colgan had been any good , and Turnbull hadnt got injured we might have released Flinders during last season?(dunno)
RE: It's only so For once be positive, this is an extremely good move. Are you saying you don't want him on a longer term contract?
RE: Good news post -btt We have a good crop of young players who are improving all the time. Getting them on longer term contracts is good sense as they are worth more money whilst under contract. When their contracts expire they will still be under 24 and worth a few quid. It also gives us the chance to get promoted with this crop of young players.
How much can Colgan's #2 be worth? Well done Scott. Hope you have a long and prosperous BFC career and you're in the team soon. I wouldn't worry at present, I suspect you'll outlast Ritchie and I can't imagine the next chimp will be so easily fooled.
RE: How much can Colgan's #2 be worth? I can only imagine that they are playing Colgan as he hardly played towards the end of last season. I suspect Flinders is first choice but is having the pressure taken off him a little while trying to boost Colgan's slightly so that if he is required to play later in the season he will be ready.
and I think Ritchie genuinely believes Colgan is better... cos Ritchie cannot afford to f*** about, cos he'd be out of a job very soon if results went against us.
can WE afford..... ...to put Richie out of a job? Not that I'm suggesting that we should, just asking......
RE: can WE afford..... We aren't even a month into the season and people are already talking about replacing the manager! This when we have only had 1 manager complete a season out of the last 7 seasons!
RE: Do you think if Colgan had been any good , and Turnbull hadnt got injured YesI do actually, Phart didnt seem to rate him where as Gudjon did. I am pretyy sure that he was on his way out
