Should keep his opinion private, at best it's embarrassing for his son I would have thought.

I used to like seeing him post on BFC Facebook page because he'd take the piss out of Josh.

Aren't dads allowed to be biased? I know I would be. He doesn't support Barnsley, he wants his son to do well. Got to say, if a parent spouting off damages a professional footballer's career then the world is fooked.

You have an option not to follow people on Twitter.

Although his tweet of 'lmao' is hardly moaning.

If his dad makes comments that lowers Josh's likeability with the fans, his fellow Barnsley players or the management of the club then it would likely negatively impact on his career at the club and for a limited player such as Josh (I say limited in the sense that he isn't a world beater rather than in the sense of him not being good enough for us) then it could indeed have a negative impact on his future career.

Not that I'm saying that's the case at all, I haven't even read anything his dad's put until a minute ago and I'm still not sure what he's said that's wrong about brownhill

I don't agree at all. If my mate's dad says something about me or where I work, I don't suddenly dislike my mate.

I thought it was fairly common behaviour to like or dislike a person due to others they are associated with? Could be wrong obviously

Have you ever been to a kids football match?
Dads fighting fans ,each other ,referees , team managers,or anybody else that doesn't comply with their views on how their son is doing or been treated .
It puts Millwall v Leeds to shame.

I have and you're right it's disgusting. I also know of kids who have been kicked off the team because of it which kind of demonstrates my point

Is lmao what the original post was about? If so it's quite an assumption to make that out of every possible scenario in the world he was referring to brownhill replacing scowen

If your point is that parents can behave like dicks at kids football matches, I agree. If your point is that somebody tweeting disappointment at their son not being picked for his professional football team can harm their career, then you haven't. You're comparing apples with oranges. I look forward to your ill thought through tenuous analogy. No really, I do.

No, tweeting disappointment is fine, tweeting criticism of other players or management or mocking a particular selection to backup that disappointment is what could cause friction. From what I've seen his dad hasn't done that? I don't think anyway. I was just pointing out that family members behaviours on social media can affect a career these days

Totally agree that Brownhill has done nothing wrong so he's gotta stay on the bench. Disagree about his dad though. Just saying what he thinks, which is a refreshing attitude to have rather than some of the stage managed rubbish some players and managers come out with.
