I was reading some comments from an Oxford fan.He said Barnsley controlled the first half and second half Oxford we're too tippy tappy without any drive forward.
I thought, under difficult circumstances with the weather and injuries, we were excellent, particular the first half. Second half they were on top but, unless I’m forgetting something, I only really remember them having shots from distance (the one that hit the bar was a cracker tbf) and punting the ball out of play on our bottom left corner. Great result.
Yeah, that's how I saw it too. There were comments in the match day thread about them having control, but we didn't really look in danger (unless we caused it ourselves), and I was more than happy for them to have the ball. With the wind behind them, I thought they'd be a bit more direct to try and catch out our back 3 who are notoriously iffy with the ball over the top. But they seemed content with trying to find that killer through ball, which meant they were overplaying the final pass time and again. I thought we managed the game really well. It wasn't a classic, but given the circumstances, we did what was required.
Agreed. We certainly managed it well, all credit to the players and coaching staff. Let’s hope we’re saying something similar after the Bolton away game!
NEVER HEARD OWT AS DAFT IN MY LIFE DONT CARE HOW WE GET THEM MAY ASWELL JUST LOOK FOR LEAGUE TABLE UPDATING @ 5.00 / 9.30
We're not going to be able to play brilliantly and win all the time, so a hard fought away win will do me.
I told the current Mrs DR that, with the wind, Oxford would try to use the long ball. They did but most were over hit particularly on their right resulting in many slowly taken throws-in.
I would always prefer us to win with style & skill. However, if we can't have that, then I prefer us to win far more than drawing and playing well.
Been watching us 43 years and I've seen us play beautiful free flowing attacking football and murder teams, not take the chances and get done from a set piece, I'll take a scruffy win the league table in May won't care either should we go up. Tbh 75% of the league isn't pleasing on the eye
Personally, I've seen far too many games where we've played really well and deserved a draw or a win and got nowt - Wembley last year being a prime example. So I'm very happy with last night's effort.
Worst thing you can be is everybody's second favourite team. Generally means you play nice stuff but you're not much of a threat.
