The Owls are reported to have tabled a bid of £1.5-million for the 21-year-old player. But United chairman Steve Wharton insists it will take a much higher fee to prise Sharp away from Glanford Park.

"If Sheffield Wednesday do make a bid of that sort, it would not be attractive to us," said the Scnuthorpe chief.

"I am sure there is going to be much speculation throughout the summer about Billy, but our position has not changed.

"We want to do all we can to try and keep him at Glanford Park next season.

"But we won't keep him against his will. If a big club that he wants comes in for him, then we would not stand in his way, because that would be wrong."

So basically, they won't accept Wendy's bid but might if a big club wanted him. Nice!
