Offered new contracts to Stephen Dawson and Craig Davies but released our old pal Scott Wiseman.

Good luck to em! Loved them both in their time here though Dawson lacked in the quality department I always thought he tried and Davies was absolutely electric on his day

Wiseman played for us for a number of games

Offer a contract to Wiseman perhaps? Was always popular here and the first thing he said after leaving was he would love to return one day...

I always liked Dawson, sadly some of the bone idle cretins who played alongside him in midfield let us down badly.

Yes couldn't fault Dawson for effort just ability let him down. Unfortunately many of his team mates at the time were just here for a pay cheque. Wonder if he ever gave that money to charity after him and brek shea were chelping at fans at huddersfield.

Spot on RR, his ability wasn't his strong point but his work rate and effort set him apart from the so-called flair players alongside him in midfield. Had the likes of Mellis put in a fraction of the effort that Dawson did we might have stood half a chance.

Sorry state of affairs when we're saying a player was ok because although he was **** he tried hard. I'd try harder than he ever did but I'd still be ****.

Wiseman on the other hand was **** and dint try.

What you have to remember is the players along side him.

Had he been in the team last year or this. Say at the side of CH. We'd probably be saying different. He stood out more because of the effort he put in when nobody else did.

    Probably

I liked Dawson, and was very disappointed when some of our lot made him a scapegoat.

He was a big part of the team that turned out a fantastic run of results after we'd looked doomed to relegation, and I'll always remember him fondly for that.

To be fair he wasn't that big a part of it. He hardly played in the running I bet he didnt even play half the games. Of the ones he did play in we maybe won 2 of them.

I never understood why Dawson got stick, he was lacking a bit at championship level but gave his all.

Even Wiseman & Kennedy didn't deserve much abuse in my opinion, just out of their depth at that level.

I had issues with the wasters, Mellis, McCourt & Cwyka, 3 talented players who just didn't want it enough. Only turned it on when it suited.

And then the proper risers, Frimpong & Shea. You'd think two lads like that would've been desperate to impress in a World Cup year to try & make the USA & Ghana squads. Shocking

    And then Brek Shea,

Dawson got stick because he basically wasn't any good at the level he was playing at. Promoted beyond his abilities. He is a competent L1 player who was exposed beyond that level.

I don't knock him for trying or as a person. There is definitely a myth about him playing a big role in the 'great escape' perhaps his greatest role was being injured/suspended for most of it allowing more talented players to get us out of the shizz.

I barely remember any of the football he played. My abiding memory of him is him flicking the vs at someone and giving verbals to the fans at Huddersfield. Not summat I have an issue with it's a passionate game and sometimes that spills over but that literally is my only real memory of him in a Barnsley shirt.

Mellis has found his true level since then, only just managing to avoid Lg One relegation with Bury!! :p (and goodness knows where Tommy the Pole disappeared off to)

And speaking of players who have been released this week, newly promoted Bolton have released Reece Wabara. They are saying what we already know, hes only fit for Lg One as well.

I quite liked the fact that he had a go at the Huddersfield match. It showed that he gave a ****.

Im not sure if Id go along with that Tiler to be honest. They were terrible at the time and had been thrashed 5-0, the players shouldnt have reacted by mouthing back at and hand gesturing to the fans.

To be fair Dawson was probably as pissed off as a lot of us were playing with several players who didn't give a **** that we were on the verge of been relegated.

Anyone on who's even played 5 a side knows how frustrating it is when you've got lazy players in your side
