Statement ready to cut and paste... "We have given the situation as much time as we could to improve but have become increasingly concerned about the club's league position," "The league table does not lie. We are currently in the relegation zone and have been there for most of the season". "This is not acceptable and the board feels that it needs to take action to try and rectify this. We need to move to ensure that results on the pitch keep up with progress off the pitch".
At first you think, "Ha! **** yer, serves you right for turning us down and spectacularly underestimating us. Particularly as you lied and said you weren't looking for a job at that time, then jumped in to the Bristol City position almost immediately. In fact, we're glad you didn't come you useless berk, you would have probably made the same balls up at Barnsley as you have at Bristol and it would be us languishing at the foot of league 1. Couldn't have happened to anyone more deserving" Then you realise he's just about to receive a pay-off the likes of which you and I will never see in our lives. A relatively wealthy man has suddenly got quite a bit richer. This isn't a bad day for him, it's a good one. He's achieved this by doing a shocking job and getting himself sacked. If you get another go at this life I want to come back as a football manager. Preferably one that isn't very good, so I can keep getting sacked and picking up up the pay-offs.
I'm sure you'll have a perfectly valid reason mate, but seriously? They have a bigger budget than us (which is why he joined them in the first place) Flicker kept us up, he got them relegated. We're in the Champ drop zone, they're in the L1 drop zone. I'm sure it's not as black and white as that, but how can he possibly be the right man? I personally think we seriously dodged a bullet there.
His record other than Bristol suggests not. Sometimes a club is in free fall and regardless of who comes in they can't seem to stop it. Looks like Bristol have been that club for five or six years. He plays good football, has a good record in this league both with Doncaster & Forest, knows the lower leagues and how to work on a smaller budget. If he was the right man in January then why wouldn't he be the right man now when we're in a similar position?
Hes turned it down when his standing was higher interesting to see who applies next time job is advertised but hopefully Flicker can turn things around.
And when we were in a f.cking mess. No investment, lack of structure in the background etc. We've got that now. We're just in more of a mess on the pitch.
A failed Championship and League 1 Manager, who turned us down the first time round. I imagine it would be largely opposed by Reds fans, and he'd be under pressure from Day 1. Would be asking for trouble, IMO.
He turned Bournemouth in to a yoyo club in the days when James Hayter was on fire for them, getting them both promoted and relegated...and for me he would have done little at Donny without Billy Sharp..and even there his tenure ended after a run of 26 games and only 1 win....the jury is very much out for me.
Didn't he take Donny down with 36 points in 11/12 or was that Saunders? Even in our shittest of **** seasons we never got near that embarrassing number of points. Our seven consecutive season's in this division have produced 50, 55, 52, 54, 56, 48 & 55 points. I think he could be a bit like Keef, decent in the lower reaches.
I remember Tommy Doc saying years ago sumert similar to...Once ive signed a contract you can sack me when ever you like.. People should remember that, when wanting flickers head on a plate, and a clean sweep of his staff..Don't think that ull happen. If Flicker did get the push am sure that the powers the be would look no ferther than the 2Ms anyway Or he may just get the unspeakable...time to turn it around..
Re: Statement ready to cut and paste... Maybe the board should sack themselves seen as they've got progressively worse with every manager they've appointed whilst running up a completely unsustainable debt. They are either atrocious at recruitment or are failing to create an environment in which a manager can be successful.
