I've done the maths, and these are the results (I hope i'm right but someone correct me if i'm wrong) Season ticket in Ponty is £325. Ticket prices now £23. £23 (per match) x 23 (matches in the season) = £529. £529 (cost if individual match tickets bought) - £325 (season ticket price) = a saving of £204, or 8.87 games (£204 / 23 games in the season). £204. 8.87 games. So if you see 8 fixtures you don't want to go to, it's still cheaper to get a Season Ticket. Can't beat that. Season Ticket looking like a reyt bargain now! (if i'm wrong i'll look like a reyt bell, i know)
Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 £204 / 23 games would give you the saving per game or £8.87 However, £204 / £23 per game gives you 8.87 games so you were kinda right
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G When I worked shifts I bought a season ticket as I only missed 5 or6 games a season. In fact I used to let a friend use it for those games and he'd buy me a pint or 2. These days I'd probably save by not getting a season ticket as I'd probably only end up going to half the games judging by how many times I've gone and not really felt like it!
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 You got to the right answer, but in the wrong way. You got lucky because the number of games in a season is equal to the match day ticket price STs were better value for money last season though. They were cheaper and match day tickets were more expensive. 23 x £28=£644 £644 - £315 = £329 saving £329/23 = £14.30 saving per game. Or in your way: £315 buys you 315/28=11.25 match day tickets meaning that if you missed 23-11.25=11.75 games, it would still be the same price. So if you're looking to buy a season ticket in the Ponty this season, you need to make sure you don't miss anymore than 8 games, whereas last season, you only needed to make sure you didn't miss more than 11 games. Of course, buying a ST in any other stand is even less value for money since they're more expensive but match day tickets are the same price.
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 I've just worked it out. If you think you'll miss 6 games or more and sit in the East or West Upper tier you shouldn't buy a ST.
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G All season tickets at Barnsley are an absolute bargain - well compared to watching the NHL, at any rate. For the same price as the Ponty End season ticket you will get approx 7 or 8 NHL matches at Calgary Flames! Championship football at Barnsley = bargain, IMO.
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G So it's better value to buy a season ticket in the ponte. but if your paying on the day your better off in east or west as you get better view and apparently a better seat for same money.
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G That's due to the exchange rate for the pound going absolutely tits up against world currencies. 5 years ago you'd have got twice as many dollars for your quid. Compared to European football, £325 for the cheapest season ticket is extortionate
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G Partially true. 10 years ago the exchange rate was £1=$2.50 (Cdn), now it is £1=$1.50 approx. So, even at the higher exchange rate you would only get 13 NHL games compared to 23 on the BFC season ticket. When you factor in that you also get 90 minutes of action as opposed to 60 minutes (drawn out over 2.5 hours) in the NHL, I still think watching Barnsley is a relative bargain. Now I know that the sports are different and we are comparing 2nd tier with top tier, but even so, I still think the price is right at Barnsley. IMO, of course.
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G any idea what the prices are like at a second tier hockey team?
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G There's no such thing really. Much like the NFL and Major League Baseball. There are what they call "farm teams" which is a bit like the reserves, but there is no promotion / relegation to and from the NHL or the other leagues I mentioned.
European season ticket survey Good comparison of European football ticket prices on here. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AonYZs4MzlZbdDE1ZWJ6T2xpUEd5TWRlU19UaGJ4X0E#gid=5 The conclusion I draw is that BFC's dearest tickets are a bargain but the cheapest are extortionate. Maybe we should have a wider range of prices with the cheapest priced at £200 and the dearest at £500 (including a cushion to sit on)
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G That explains why I couldn't think of any second tier hockey teams then. Silly boy
Re: Season Ticket vs Match Tickets..... A Saving of £204, or the equivalent of 8.87 G Maybe you should ask Tomi - he'll probably have an idea about "second tier" hockey teams i.e.those in the European hockey leagues. (I'm ducking for cover in case he reads this ;-) )
Re: European season ticket survey That's also kind of the case when you compare us to the Championship. There are 8 clubs who's cheapest ST, is cheaper than our cheapest ST. However, there's only 1 club (Blackpool) who's most expensive ST is cheaper than our most expensive ST. Trouble is I don't think there's that much difference where you sit at Oakwell. We don't have any really high up stands or corner stands that offer a really poor view. The 'cheap' STs that other clubs offer could just be for a very small number of seats right up in a corner which makes our ST prices look more expensive than they actually are. http://www.pricingplaybook.co.uk/sp...n-ticket-prices-20132014-update-and-analysis/ It would be good if someone could produce the average ST prices. Perhaps, one depending on the number of seats available at each price and another depending on the number purchased at each price.
Re: European season ticket survey Also nice to have the same seat every week and not having to mess about getting tickets for big games etc - plus priority for away games & cup games.
Re: European season ticket survey knew I'd get something wrong, maths never was my strong point even though I used it a lot at uni. Nowt wrong with being luck in maths haha. Still though, makes STs great value IMO. Great shout from the club to make tickets £23 flat rate.
