Acknowledging I'm risking the wrath of those who were actually there tonight, but:

When we talk about about strength in depth at this level we're not talking about being able to play a full second string. Who, on tonight's performance, could fit into the first team and make a good account of themselves?

Who coul fit into the first team and play well? Well apart from kay and mcindoe who are in our starting 11 normally I would say that possibly austin (though not in that position) and Tonge can fill in adequatly. Tommy Wright can sit on the bench until nads is fit because we know that he offers a little bit of aggression which is sometimes needed.

The rest of them? Nope, not good enough at all.

on last nights showing none of them Kay included. The keeper looked shakey although made a couple of good saves. Tonge could not stand up to save his life . Austin looked out of his depth at centre half. Kay made a couple of decent headers and challanges but on the whole made half hearted ineffectual pushes, and shoves. Nothing like his performances this season so far. Williams did very little all night, but did manage to block a goal bound shot by turning his back and letting it hit is ample backside. Mcparland, oh dear, when he did get the ball he managed to lose it or fall over or run into players. Very like Shuker on a bad day without any of Shukers better qualities. In fact I think the biggest cheer of the night was for his substitution. Wroe & Healey, did not see enough of them. Did not control the game at all and sat far too deep. Healey provided some nice touchs but they were few and far between. Jarman tried without any end result. I read somewhere else that someone said he was too cocky, possibly but he tried and was pprepared to give a go. Was willing to shoot from distant although the execution was poor. Wasted on the wing. Would like to see him play through the middle up front. Tommy Wright, is Tommy Wright, never seen a man put so much effort in to his game but he has no end result. Missed a one on one in the box when really should have scored. Coulson given time and experience may make a decent player.

I thought it was Coulson that missed the one on one?

I'm sure Coulson was put through at one stage, perhaps not clean through

RE: Players like Tommy are the reason

I get wound up with fans who knock players like Nardi saying he doesnt work hard enough etc.. Tommy works his nuts off, but for what ? the idea is to get the ball in the net. I wish we had Jan Aga back the most running he ever did was AFTER he had scored... He did have the best worker as a strike partner though and thats what we need a STRIKE PARTNERSHIP.... not just any old striker

I think he was (right hand side of the net?).

The one with tommy was when it was crossed to him 6 yards out in front of goal to the left and he kicked (volleyed?) it straight at their keeper.
