Does anyone remember when we played them on April 25th 1981 and it was our 44th league game? We lost the buggar 1-0 and Blavkpool were ina relegation dogfight back then too. Let's hope that's where the similarities end. The day is besty remembered for the M62 being closed due to heavy snow that fell throughout the Friday evening. Around 4,500 Reds supporters eventually made it over the Pennines with a few thousand opting to return home, and when we got to the coast it was blazing.
I certainly remember that day - but not for football.
I was at a wedding at the Town Hall. Dunno how we eventually got there in the snow, it was a very heavy fall.
Got stuck in town and a group of German lads, on a visit from Swabich Gmund gave me a push up westgate into the car park

Remember it well We played in blue for first time I'd ever seen us in that colour. Ronnie Glavin played up front and was ****. 2 foot of snow in tarn, t-shirt weather in blackpool. Weird.
Blimey! 25 years ago...... It doesn't seem that long ago The years are flying by! I never liked us playing blue - we never seemd to do ok in it. The white shirts and black shorts was a good alternative away from home - ahh!! Rotherham away days back then with a 9,000-strong following (which sold out in two days). Incidentally; that very same season we were competing with Huddersfield for a promotion spot. There's quite a few similarities methinks. I hope it doesn't snow tonight.(lookout)
I was there, along with thousands more, stood on hill they called a stand, remember Huddersfield being our bitter promotion rivals, ring any bells?
Certainly does... Game at Leeds Road saw us losing 1-0 in front of 28,000-plus. Remember "Rupert's got a wig on"? after a bag of piss knocked it off?
Certainly does. I was working in Hudders at the time and took no end of ribbing after they ended our unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at the old Leeds Road. I had the last laugh though....happy memories !
Stkleve Khlidon was playing for them . Hard Barsteward with a lisp. Played that game with a skull cap on as he had fractured some part of his face. Went on to be a public speaker.
RE: Blimey! 25 years ago...... Aye it was terrible when we played in blue. That shitty promotion season eh, aye we were rubbish particularly at Bramall lane
Super Jonnie Hendrie !!!

A very good after dinner speaker too. Saw him a couple of years ago at the Arches and he was hilarious.
RE: Not that i can remember Didn't you used to stand in the Brewery wearing a parka (I think) circa 1982ish. There always seemed to be a kerphuphal around that area !!
Either that or my memory is really suffering with age !

Ah were on that an' all, McSporran. But ah dint sithee! Went with the Agbrigg lads - worth havin with you when it kicked off. Didn't it take some weird circular route via Donny or summat daft?? All the way there nobody believed the game would be on - heavy snow all the journey until Blackpool, which might as well have been a different continent!! Miserable afternoon, but the Tuesday night made up for it! Good days.
