West Brom are willing to allow goalkeeper Luke Steele to fulfil his Wembley FA Cup dream with giant-killers Barnsley.

Steele is on loan at Oakwell from Albion and has performed heroics to help the Terriers sensationally knock Liverpool and holders Chelsea out on their way to a semi-final meeting with Cardiff on 6th April.

The 23-year-old's initial one-month deal expires on Friday, but the Baggies - who face Portsmouth in the other semi-final - are happy to allow Steele to remain in Yorkshire.

West Brom, though, would look to end their agreement to subsidise Steele's wages if the loan was extended.

Permanent transfer

The Baggies have been contributing to Steele's pay, but Barnsley - who have benefited financially from their cup run - would be expected to pay the shot-stopper's wages for the remainder of the season.

West Brom would also be looking for Steele, who has 15 months left on his contract at the Hawthorns, to join Barnsley on a permanent basis at the end of the season and they would be willing to grant him a free transfer.

Steele joined West Brom from Manchester United at the start of last season as part of the deal that also saw Paul McShane move to The Hawthorns.

However, Steele has found it difficult to find a place in Tony Mowbray's first-team plans following the impressive form of Dean Kiely this season.

And it appears clear that Steele does not figure in Mowbray's long-term thoughts as Kiely has just agreed a new contract with the Midlands outfit.
