Currently listening to Second Life Syndrome - Riverside. Riverside are a Polish band but they sing in English. Excellent stuff if you are inclined towards progresive rock.

RE: you ever have any Rush type bands on Red Rain??

I find it very difficult to respond to your enquiry. You see, the CRS does not book bands because they sound like some other band. Obviously, bands fall into many different genres, some of which you will enjoy, and some of which you won't. The important thing is to keep an open mind to lots of different music so that you do not become one dimentional in your musical tastes. If you do so, your listening pleasure becomes more and more restricted. The CRS has a motto. There are only 2 types of music - good and bad. If you come to the CRS you will hear only the good sort, but it may not sound exactly like Rush.

CRS Gig list
25/2/06 Strangefish HLC £12 Winner of best new band 2004
4/3/06 Geoff Downes/John Wetton Oakwood £15 Ex Asia
18/3/06 Pallas £15 Oakwood Pomp Rock
25/3/06 Jump £10 HLC Folk Rock with attitude
6/5/06 Rotherham Rocks 2006 £15 Oakwood 5 bands - early start
Ritual Swedish band - very rocky
Sylvan German band - a favourite of mine
Strangefish - see above
Arilyn Dutch I think - have not seen them
Silverjet - Rockers from Sheffield
13/5/06 Magenta £15 HLC think early Genesis/Yes

Thats enough for now I think. Please give us a try. It really is the only way.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

As in 'It Bites' Francis Dunnery?

Awesome guitarist.

RE: Francis Dunnery?

That's the one. He played for the CRS in January 2005 at the Boardwalk in Sheffield. At the time, there was talk of IT Bites getting back together again, but nothing has happened. Two of the other member of It Bites play in Kino. It was the Kino lead guitarist who beat Dunnery to guitarist of the year. I voted for Chris Fry, the Magenta guitarist who played a 30 minute accoustic set before the Magenta gig in May and was awesome. I also saw Dunnery in December at the Memorial Hall, but thought that he was better at the CRS.

I take it that they only do their own stuff

and don't bother with covers.

trouble is I like classic rock like Led Zepp but I can't be doing with the arty farty progressive stuff like genesis or yes. I guess the only way I'll find out is to show up to a gig.

I'm afraid so. But look on the bright side, you may find a new love. A band that still works or still tours regularly.
