    Tell you what Mark,
Never let Ticketmaster get involved with flogging tickets for any Shrimps big games.
There's a lot of Pompey fans who are hoping that 'The Baggies' do everyone a big favour in dicking Pompey next week and avoiding all the fans from getting stressed all over again in trying to get a ticket for the Final.
Some of the things I've heard and read are disgusting.
Last time Pompey got to the semis in 1992 we had to queue up for hours at Fratton Park for a ticket.
That was all part of the fun and nobody minded.
But being kept on the end of the dog and bone for hours and for nowt ain't funny.
A mate of mine reckons his ticket, which he thinks he's got, will have eventually cost him almost double with booking fee, recorded delivery and phone call.
And then there is the usual thing about not being able to get a group of seats together.
And weve sold out, ok, not everyone happy with the way it was done but the grass is always greener

The Club Should Sell Through Their Own Online System And Not Use Ticketmaster

No wonder they are struggling for tickets, as the website will get hits from everywhere and for many different events. If they had their own online system, the system would be less likely to crash, as it would only be used by people wanting to go to the ONE event, instead of dozens listed.

Ticketmaster are a large organisation though - so they should (will) have servers capable of coping with high demand. It doesn't necessarily stand to reason that having your own system for just 1 event means it won't crash, because you still need the server capacity to cope with it.

    True But........

the club will know the max number of people who can claim tickets at one time (season ticket holders first) and so will know what standard of server can cope with the demand.

    There's a cost factor involved

It will cost more for a club to put such a system in place, and operate it, then to use ticketmaster's systems when needed....have you heard of "savings by scale"?

I'm not sure though why I'm trying to explain the logistics and finances of IT to you!

    So wouldn't it make sense

For the FA to run one on behalf of any club and the FA take the booking fee rather than ticket master.

These sytems are not expensive and the FA could use if for many events, (England matches, charity shield, even the rugby if that gets to be played at wembley again.)

A little bit of branding and bobs your uncle.
