    Given that they shun technology will these poor girls who've been shot be on ventilators and that or are they like jehova's witness's and refuse medical treatments which are against their beliefs and are more than the very basic?

    I think you mean Amish

    On Radio 5 this morning they were speaking to a women who had spent 3 years living in various Amish communities and there are different Orders, some are more strict than others as to the technology they use. It will be a struggle for them to come to terms with accepting the medical treatment apparently but from what was said that would be for them to wrestle with their conscience and unlikely they would refuse it.
    They are well respected in the wider community as well as they are very hard working and bring tourism to the area.
