Not sure if many have seen the vpn section for help to watch ifollow. There is some good advice in there. Posting this early so anyone wanting to do it can get it sorting in plenty of time. Only our established users can view this forum

I have written an idiots guide to setting up a ssh tunnel using your own vps. its dead easy and the advatages over using this are you get your own personnal ip address. Therefore if ifollow was to block all vpns it would still work.

Anyone can do this, you dont need any experience of using servers etc, you just need login details and ip address. Once initial set up is done its dead easy.

My example would cost £3.49 per month to keep the vps active, though if you search around you may get it even cheaper.

Link to guide is below, if you have any questions get stuck feel free to post in the thread and ill try to answer

The settings in Google Chrome regarding proxy/VPN seem to have changed, was wondering if there was any update on how to get around them

    Thanks in advance

I'm missing the bit that explains why I want to do this. Sigh...

So despite inexplicable defeatist passions applied to this thread to which I pay very little attention due to the unconditionality of my support, is there a way to bypass the changes applied by Google Chrome?

I’ll have a look. Not sure what changes are. You could use Firefox or internet explorer

I would t have thought there would be a need to bypass. Creating a tunnel is Perfectly legal

Eh I think it's just a chrome problem mate, I'll sort things out using another browser, what's Opera like for VPNs because that tends to be the browser that gives me the least hassle

Never used opera. But they all work the same. Your not actually using a vpn your just changing the proxy setting within the browser.

Doesn't have to cost anything, you just need to buy the iFollow subsciption.

Download Windscribe you get 2GB free per month

Connect to somewhere in Europe. Navigate to BFC site buy iFollow sub if all is well it will be in Euros.

Once the stream has started turn the VPN back off - this ensures your free 2gb does not get used up but not only that you will also get better quality from the stream as you wont be on the degraded download speeds that is the case with all VPNs.

I use smart DNS which although it doesn't give security of encrypted tunnel like VPN it enables me to access stuff from abroad but I can select which websites use it. Therefore, other websites' routing is unaffected and does not have to go through a specific VPN tunnelled server which depending on the amount of traffic can slow thing down (well at least that was my experience when I used to use HMA VPN). I stopped using that when BBC must have found a way to identify and 'block' all their UK VPN servers. I now use 'Overplay' which costs around 4 euros per month for DNS but they also offer VPN which I have not tried and that is more expensive. Occasionally BBC seems to 'find' me but you simply log onto Overplay and refresh the DNS, clear the browser cash and you are back up and running.

I don't seem to be able to do that anymore, when bringing up the proxy settings on chrome it takes me directly to windows settings rather than in the browser. Any idea what to do there?

I set it up last week. Basically just the settings have moved slightly.

I'll add to the thread in the vpn section.

    Where's the VPN section?

Thanks for the help, by the way.
