How will it settle it once and for all? You'll just get same arguments for and against probably than you already have gone through.

Morally I would say no. If a business is being bailed out then it isn't in a position to pay bonuses. However, some of them are contractually entitled to have bonuses paid. How they are worked out is anyones guess? I don't know much about it tbh.

         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:

*that money and we aint talkin 2 quid here, 60billion quid, could have been spent on skwls and the nhs and vital things
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:

*lol only 3.3 bill thought it wud be alot more
*but tbh i think people are overacting abart these bank managers
*its no major change to our lives
*jus another thing to moan abart
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*lol, i see it from a different point tho, whhat could that 60 billion quid have been spent on if it wernt goin to save the banks
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
*how much have been given in bonuses?
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*a lot, the nhs is cryin owt for money, education needed in chavvy areas
*i dunno, but why should they get a bonus for failin ?
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
*for working alot longer hours than they shud and for doing all the can
*alot of them will be giving up alot
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*i dunt get a bonus for doin 50hours this week ? and some guards do 90 hours, they dunt get £100,000s of bonuses
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
*well ur in the wrong job then lol
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*shame every cant be a bank manager innit, do long hours n give yasen 250000 pound bonus for doin abit of overtime
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
*apparenlty bonuses are going to every1, and most are abart a grand..
*a grand isnt that much over a year
*120m has apparently been paid on bonuses.. that makes no diff to ur 60 billion.
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*the boss of rbs said he was gettin a bonus in the hundreds of thousands of pounds mate
*then a week later they announce 2300jobs goin ?
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
*laods of people are losing there jobs.. everywhere nt jus banks
    *his bonus changes nothing
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*yea but if he gets a bonus of a quater of a million quid but 2300 people lose thier jobs, wheres the fairness in that, sayy them people earn 15k a year, not all of em will, some might be more and some less, but that would save a few jobs
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
*if he was on a 250k bonus.. and gave that up he cud only afford to pay 250 of them for one month
*how wud he save the rest?
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*the point is he is earning upwards of 2 million quid a year, arguable might/might not deserve that much... but its not a bad wage.... but then to give yaself a quarter of a million quid bonus is abit rong givn that he is getting rid of 2300 jobs
*even if it only saves a few job, it would save afew
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
    *it cant save any
*all bosses in any company get bonuses
*say if morrisons made less money 1 month.. the boss wud still end up with his bonus
*hes worked his way up to that level..
*and to give u 250k hed be able to save 10 of the 2300 jobs
    *out of 200000 employees?
*his bonus is nothing compared to wages paid out
*i feel im geting the upper atm.. hit me back
    *come on :)
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*lol. let have the people decide....
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
    *who?

    *message bard :D
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
    *haa
*its cos ive won the argument
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*nah, u just said the same thing over n over agen but differently
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:
*no1s gonna save they deserve it, but its not a big deal
*no i showed his bonus wudnt change owt
         kiefer.... barnsley tilli die        says:
*well post that then, and give you side, and see what they think
    - Ceee.... (L) hannah MALIA WORKERS 09! - May 1st Marc! says:

bonus schemes are essential. selling more products ensures that the banks grow (or try to)

there's a massive difference between bonuses paid to staff who achieve targets and those at director level

    surely ya joking?

their job is to service and sell. if they do it well and hit targets they deserve it. fair days work for their job is to sell whether you like it or not. just say no

you could argue that the foot soldiers should get their bonuses because its not their fault...

their bosses took the wrong decisions and they had to be bailed out by the tax payers. but on the other hand most foot soldiers get the chop when their businesses take a turn for the worse not a Bloody bonus.

yea, im the debate we had as posted above, the workers way down the pecking order wernt mentioned, just the top brass, which is were this has come from, him basically saying it doesnt affect us so we shouldnt care less and me saying it does and we should, he does have a quite alot of valid points but i just dont think that the top brass should get any sort of financial bonus when owned by tax payers

Guys....I work for the RBS................I get a relatively low bonus of 10% (profit based) although the job i do is not and can never be said to be profit orientated.

The top guys at the bank take not only profit share but also performance related pay (PRP) .....................by taking unnecessary risks in accountancy terms therefore inflating profit means they have inflated bonuses...............i'm as furious as anyone.........

The jobs that go will not be those that brought the bank to its knees

For the easily confused amongst us (me) if your bonus is profit based then will that mean you won't get or be entitled to a bonus this year due to the company being in debt rather than profit?

Sorry if i'm being a bit dense as usual here
