South, SW, Mids, Wales and London overnight tonight and through Thursday. Up to 7 inches.
North and North-East mainly Thursday night and through Friday. Several nights of sub-zero temperatures everywhere.
Train snow ploughs called in, 20 million gritters on standby and rail de-icing spray equipment brought in.
Get the beer in and the heating turned up and make sure you've got yer thermals on for Colchester.

Looking at BBC Weather Centre site .......... ...... seems little chance of us playing Saturday, heavy snow forecast for Barnsley from Thursday right through to Saturday, it only said snow on Saturday when I looked yesterday so I fear the worst!
'20 Million Gritters'??? No wonder the chuffin' roads allus grind to a halt!!
Wasn't it a Katie Melua song?

RE: '20 Million Gritters'??? There are 20 million gritters in smithies depot That's a fact, It's a thing we can't deny etc etc
You're probably right ..... ....sometimes they exaggerate how bad the conditions will be so that they aren't criticised aterwards for not flagging up potential problems. The BBC Weather Site is now showing 7 degrees and sunny for Sunday so hope that arrives a bit sooner!
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_weather.html Thurs at 6pm our first glimpse it seems, and then its here till satdi. GET IN
BUT THIS SAYS SNOW FROM 4am (TOMORROW) TO 3pm (TOMORROW) so it seems we'll have to wait and see for ourselves in the morning
Will be Chaos again Councils will be saying 'It caught us unawares' and the other lame excuses. Southern Commuters will struggle with about 2inches and will use all reasons why they had to have a day off. Should have been around when snow was 3ft deep and consolidated on Royston High Street for 2 months.
