I don't know how anyone can laugh that off. I don't care if we had nothing to play for, we owed it to the fans and every other club in the championship to try and win today. All the good of fighting to stay up is undone for me after a result like that.
Humiliating.

Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked Forget the crap you hear about "We went for the party coz we're safe". The players owed it to the fans and also the other clubs in contention for a play-off place to give 100%. Some clown on here who sounds like a ten year old says we (Barnsley fans) began cheering West Brom's goals after they'd bagged five. W****er!!
RE: Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked sorry mate, but it happened, you need to lighten up................and I went wi me kids as usual, they're both older than 10. Were u there?
RE: Party Atmosphere Is One Thing But....... I believe it was aimed at showin the west brom fans that we wernt as bothered as they thought we were.........................but you kinda lose the spirit of the moment when its explained in the aftermath
RE: Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked No I wasn't there, but I can't accept a 7-0 hammering as easy as you can. Don't understand how fans can cheer opposition's goals. I'm as relieved as you that we've stayed up, but it's not right that we lay down and die. This puts a cloud over the fact that we avoided relegation.
RE: Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked Its call irony... its what the British do best and the Americans can't understand.
Woolley Pit If my memory serves me right Remember seeing Peter Springett ( RIP) in a miners helmet. Quality
RE: Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked Isn't it great how all the embarassed people are the ones that didn't go. Probably the same ones who say they go every game. One game doesn't make a season. We went with nothing to play for a make shift defence against a team who needed to win to get in the play offs. Yes we were poor. yes it looked like we didn't really care. Am i Embarrassed? No! Why? because we managed to stay in the division and that i am proud of. The show of support was to mark the achievement of the season and enjoy it.
RE: Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked I go every time I can mate thats usually 99% of home games and away if poss mate (and its a hundred mile round trip to get to even a home match) so do'nt assume that the ones who were there today are the only ones who care about the team, and please dont start that real fans ****.
RE: Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked ooooh What a bite and real fans *****. You said it. Was a general comment but Caught you!
RE: Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked not really you were the one insinuating anyone who did'nt go were some way inferior and not entitled to an opinion I merely corrected you, because as its been pointed out by many others at many times that theres no fan any better than any other everybody cares just some have different circumstances and it pisses me off when somebody comes on giving it the smug Barsteward approach.Nothing personal like.
RE: Embarrassing, spineless -should have their wages docked Agree mate nothing personal, and the real fans thing is something i don't agree with. Everyone is a real fan who spends the time and cares. Not everyone can get to all games for various reasons. What gets me is five mins after final whistle the number of negative people who come on here. When its obvious they haven't been. Today was not good, but the fans in general went to West Brom to enjoy the fact we'd stayed up Hence the number there compared to most other away games. The backing from the reds fans was outstanding but this didn't come from what was happening on the field but what has been achieved over the season. Chill mate we've stayed up. something i didn't think was possible only a month or so ago
In a way glad we didn't win. Would have been gutted to let Preston in after all the defeats they've suffered to our rivals
I agree. The idea of 'havingnothing to play for' is a sentiment I want other teams to adopt - not us. I'd like to think that so long as we've got pride in ourselves, we've always got something to play for. We should always play our best team and we should always play to get a result. That's not what happened today and we deserved to get humiliated for it. I hope they sack Davey and, on his way out they should tell him that he had his job to play for today.
We stayed up this season - how I do not know - time to take some bold action now and plan for more than survival next year by bringing in a new and experienced manager and some quality experienced players.

Anything less than maximum effort has yielded zero return this season I'm not sure we have had any "routine wins" at all this season. Every point has been hard earned. The players gave everyting in those last few games and (against the odds) managed to stay in the championship. When a team such as WBA shows that kind of determination (and quality), we aren't going to be able to match them (particularly when we have nothing to play for). I think the cracks were already beginning to show against Leicester the previous week. We were almost running on empty. Forget about this one today.
Preston were a bit lucky to beat us twice We did well against them in the televised game (despite getting Colgan sent off) - their winner was a fluke. At Oakwell, they scored from a corner - in a game "bore draw" of a match. I would think the top six is just about correct ...
