Can anyone give me some advice on the most efficient route to dispose of some shares I have acquired.

They are in a NYSE listed company and as such have a dollar value.

I can get a US broker to sell the shares on my behalf for a minimum fee but I end up with a cheque in US which is a bugger cos the banks give a rip off rate and take 3 weeks to clear.

I could get the share certs mailed to me but then how do I dispose without getting ripped off?

    Please note!

Given my thatcherBarsteward stance I feel somewhat hypocritical but then again I dont have a decent pension due to that bitch.

And just how did you "acquire" these NYSE shares?

    low option price.

Only regret is I did not invest the max.

Company has an agreement with Barclays who will give me a sterling cheque but at what share price and exchange rate god only knows.

    RE: A prudent investment

OK - I've got 3 running with my company - had a good one mature this year.
