Has anyone on here been there? Looking to go for a week in early September and heard lots of good things, just wondered if anyone off here could shell abit more light on it? Thanks in advance!

I went in 2004 and it was the best holiday I've had. I recommend the Hilton Shark Bay top class hotel and very friendly staff with lots of excursions etc.

I went in February and it was scorching during the day but rather cold at night

have you gone to your local travel agent and asked maybe for a brochure on Beirut too? or maybe hillwalking trips in Hellmand province, Afghanistan. Perhaps a trip to the African areas of the pleasant Somalian areas.

And I take it with a reply like that is to why you're known to be the resident bellend? Stick to patronising children and weak minded IE Hemsworth...

Just asking what it's like and for people to share what they thought of it overall for a holiday. Agents say that it's perfectly safe to go over there (albeit they would say that) so less of the smart arse comments eh? Suppose a follow on to this question would be, can anyone recommend a good holiday destination within either Europe or Africa? Not too fussed on price.

Is she blonde? Because mine got nowt but hassle in Sharm back in 2005, it may have changed now. I would go to Sharm now but you're buggered for the pyramid trip with the troubles. Best time to go, they've dropped their prices.

Don't listen to the alarmists on here mate

It's a great place. Sharm is completely different to mainland Egypt and is unaffected by the trouble in Cairo etc.

I've been twice. Guaranteed sun, lovely beaches, gorgeous sea which even poor swimmers can snorkel in as it's so salty. Brilliant excursions into the desert including quad biking and star gazing.

I like to go different places but I reckon I'll go there again for winter sun sometime.

If you want any more info let me know.

Blokes there are sleazy yes. When I went with lads I noticed they were always flirting with girls sat on their own or in groups.

However when I went with my other half, they never went near her so you'll be fine.

PS - she's not ugly before anyone says :D

Thanks for that mate, big help and I was told that S-E-S wasn't and wouldn't be affected by the goings off in Egypt, unfortunately SOME of this board see things as a chance for a big song and dance. Heard its a fantastic experience and is reasonably priced.

    ok heres a thing

Firstly sorry if you feel I hit on you, but seriously guy , at this time I would keep well clear of the Eastern side of the med just now. Malta , Cyprus , Even Corfu... that's the islands. I have always thought the west side of Italy is fabulous... the island of Elba is awesome... and I do speak from experience.. Sardinia is good too, northern Spain is great Rossas is fantastic ... and away from the package hol type crowd.
