    Shearer set for Owls job
Alan Shearer is tipped to become the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday once a £50m takeover has been completed.

Lancashire business man Geoff Sheard is believed to be in the final stages of agreeing a deal to buy out former chairman Dave Allen with the backing of Russian tycoon Vladimir Yevtushenkov.

A source told News of the World: "The new owners believe they can convince Shearer to replace Brian Laws."

Why can't Barnsley find a Russian billionaire to take over at the club ?

Wendy are £30 MILLION in debt but still seem quite capable of attracting big money to the club

We are bouncing along making a small profit some years or a small loss in others, and yet we can't find anyone to take over the reigns at the club. And this is after we have just taken 36 thousand fans to a FA Cup Semi Final.

We all know PC has done a remarkable job for Barnsley - but PC is only worth in the region of 70 to 80 million.
Unfortunatly this isn't enough money in the modern game.

    Why can't we attract a buyer ???

So what you're saying is that 70m would pay his wages for 35 years then. That's never enough, you want at least 48 out of a good striker nardays.

Who says he will make a good manager anyway? Listening to him on match of the day makes Paul Hart look bubbly and enthusiastic.

Such a legend that everytime he went back after leaving them, he was subjected to some proper nasty and personal abuse by the fans for leaving them in the first place. I don't blame him not wanting to go back to them.

    Bolton, Barnsley, Blackburn

A few years ago it was always nip and tuck with these two Lancashire clubs and Barnsley
As clubs go we could be described as similar size
So why have they spent the last number of years in the Premeirship..................???

one has a sugar daddy set up the other through prudent fisicla management and the long term placing of a manager to do the task in hand.

So there it is then...............a difference of 1k per week

Whats 52k per year lost when you are earning in the region of £2 MILLION per year (gent)

And we are trying to compete in the same league as teams that pay this in wages for just one player

There are well over 500 players in the championship and you have managed to identify one on those wages. Yep I think that proves we can't compete.
