Probably a nod to the shirt they first played in which was white, or maybe they just fancied a change. EDIT: It's for the 125th anniversary.
But it's their 126th year since formation. And the first kit they wore was plain white shirts, with blue trousers and stockings. Apart from all that, it totally makes sense.
