relevent bit:- Bates claims to have secured the support of Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley in his fight against the deduction. The Oakwell club are understood to have voted against United's penalty at the original Football League appeal hearing in August, and Bates expects Barnsley to back his case in the High Court. Barnsley chairman Gordon Shepherd was unavailable for comment
I thought it was reported at the time that Barnsley had voted in favour of Leeds being deducted points. From a business perspective, Leeds being in the same division as us means an additional good pay day. (And from a fans point of view 2 more big games) so it wouldn't all be bad news if they were successful. Having said that I really enjoy seeing them in League One.
Beat me to it..any chance of a denial from Gordon?? Very disappointed if this is true. Bates claims to have secured the support of Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley in his fight against the deduction. RE: Why would he need to confirm or deny anything? nt If it is true, then I would be very disappointed that Shep has not really thought this out for the following reasons: 1) Leeds fans - in a desperate attempt to get the Ipswich game abandoned and replayed- they disgracefully invaded the pitch. If it had been replayed and Leeds won we would have had to go to WBA to get something. Leeds would have approached the Derby game diffrenetly and may have got the 3 points to stay up. 2) This left Barnsley fans in limbo for nearly an hour after the Leics game not knowing if we had stayed up or not. Spoilt our celebrations. 3) In the longer term it is more BENEFICIAL for Leeds to be below Barnsley. If we continue to prosper in this league and Leeds fester in Div 1, Barnsley will gain some support from floating Leeds/Barnsley fans. 4) Where were Leeds when Barnsley could have done with some money when we were in Adminstration? Didn't even do the collection bucket as far as I remember.
RE: Why would he need to confirm or deny anything? nt If, and I say IF it were true.
There could be any number of reasons. I don't think it is any of our business to question why, or seek an explanation, that's all.

perhaps................. it was the level of punishment-15 did seem to be arbitrary-it would be interesting to know if the FL rules are explicit on this sort of thing
Are you happy that were are suppoting Leeds/ I cant think of any other person that supports Barnsley that would give Leeds any backing at all! They broke the rules , so let the Barstewards fester,
-15 wasn't enough. Should have been instant relegation The scum (Bates) knew exactly what he was doing and expected to get away with it. He planned to take his 10 points once relegated from the Championship, **** over the people he owed money to and then spend BIG to get back up this season.
15 points was easy on the barstewards

Confirmed here by Radio Dee Dah based on a letter they have seen from Brian Mawhinney http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/barnsley/7257569.stm
I am NOT, never have been and never will be a supporter of fookin Leeds United in any way, shape or form.
The way Master Bates has ridden roughshod over his creditors and manipulated the rules is nothing short of disgraceful, and 15 points was nothing but a slap on the wrist compared to what he's been allowed to get away with.
If it is true that my Club is willing to align itself with this scum then they've sunk to the bottom of the pit alongside Bates and his cronies.

shy talk, just imagine if it had been the other way round, and leeds offered their support, would you be happy??????
RE: I am NOT, never have been and never will be Totally agree. I am appalled. In my view Leeds were very lucky not to get thrown out of the league for the way they came out of admin without a CVA. Why on earth are we supporting them?
? What's that got to do with it? Of course Bates is happy. He's true scum and we will be forever tainted by supporting him.
