Just read the short article on the website about Darren Sheridan and couple of games VsLiverpool. Didn't realsie that Willard only took charge on one more game after us in English football, and that was in 1999!
Another interesting read
http://www.markhodkinson.com/pages/excerpts_life_at_the_top.htm

I think his last game was Arsenal v Man Utd.Afterwards Gary Neville said of Willard that he was a great ref who used common sense."Any other ref could have sent 5/6 players today but he treat us like men"
slightly factually incorrect his recollection - we let in the 3rd with 9 men then Stumpy got sent off for chinning Ince
I thought Stumpy got sent off for complaining about Ince throwing a punch - definately recall seeing a Liverpool player throwing a punch and Sheridan complaining to the ref about it. It was directly after conceding the goal though.
Didn't he get sent off directly before the free kick was taken (from the wrong place) that Macmanamanaman scored from ?
Sorry to read about your Dad by the way, condolensces mate.

RE: Cheers There was a free kick in front of the Eaststand, right on the touchline. They actually took it about 6 yards in from there. That might have led to the corner from which he scored, but I could've sworn he scored from the scramble ensuing from the free kick.
My Dad is/was adamant he saw Shez swing at Ince and that's why he saw red, I remember as soon as it happened he said that he knew Shez would walk before the ref had done anything
RE: Cheers Maybe then...if it was a free kick from near the touchline, I just remember it as a corner, but then again I watch goals on telly after seeing them at the game and think they look nowt like I remember!
RE: Cheers It was from a free kick which was either blocked or saved. The ball eventually broke free to McManaman who scored. Then we had a pitch invasion from the Liverpool fans, but that was an acceptable pitch invasion because they're a big team.
Shez Tw@tted him And if you ask him he'll be more than happy to admit that. Good on him I say. There were a lot of things that were very wrong about that day, but the decision to send Sheridan off was one of the few correct ones.
RE: Shez Tw@tted him Aye, glad he stood up to that **** Ince. Bet he wasn't the first to want to take a swing, but I bet there aren't too many with the balls to actually do it
