There's been a recent move from both professional and amateur players opting for smaller and smaller shinpads. Imo something needs to be done by the FA to implement rules around the size of them. This offers no protection whatsoever and is a broken leg waiting to happen. I can't believe the Club would allow a player to wear these when they'd be the ones paying them for 6 months plus when they're on the sidelines with a broken leg.
Said same at match today. Harrogate put in some ferocious tackles and a lot of our lads barely had shin pads on. They’re so small they barely show. Bonkers.
I agree, I’m surprised clubs allow it. I saw a picture of Shepherd’s and I thought they were on the small side but that takes the pee a bit.
I don't get it...in these days of 3D printing, Kevlar, and ultra light and specialist F1 materials, multi million pound footballers even at the highest level have no protection for the legs and feet.
There’s an FA directive to ban them in grassroots junior football. I run an under fifteens team and have told all players and parents that and child turning up in micro pads won’t play.
I’ve seen players legs broken and gored by studs playing at a much lower level and think it daft to not take some precautions to try and minimise injury. Agree the club should be expecting the players to be a bit more sensible despite current fashion fads. I can’t say I ever found wearing pads overly restrictive or warm.
