i admit to being a little peeved at a few of Keiths comments, but isnt he being the honest, open manager we have always wanted?? all ive said is that i didnt want lumping in with the boo-boys, and that a little PR wouldnt go amiss.. but i take it back after re-reading some of these statements.... ---------- after the 2 home defeats, published in the Chron: "if we do not play well then the fans are disappointed and so am i. the fans keep this club afloat with their support. we know Oakwell can be a fortress. what we need is a bit of time because i believe this team will be good enough for this league but we are ALL on a learning curve at the moment. unfortunately, we live in a society where there is no time. but things wont change here overnight. i have recieved great support from the owner and completely agree with his commitment to financial fair play. the game is upside down at the moment. the market is difficult to do business in. im having to shop at Aldi rather than Selfridges. the reality is that the money isnt there for Selfridges treats. the supporters have been told that but SOME of them dont seem to have listened. however, i believe the players we do have are good enough to succeed in this division. we are away this weekend and there is almost a sigh of relief. i want to be able to play in front of our home fans and recieve their support but performances so far have not met their expectations and theyve shown us that. negativity does creep onto the pitch, and makes players nervous. there does appear to be now an us versus them attitude. dont get me wrong the MAJORITY of supporters have been superb and i would like to THANK THEM. but, a FEW of the fans have decided to boo us. THEY seem to have a memory loss, in terms of the success, this club has had in recent history. there seems to be a flavor, a feeling that SOME want to be proved right about the players we've recruited. SOME fans criticised me for not playing certain players but what is that doing to the confidence of the players who are in the team at the moment?! there needs to be a realisation from EVERYBODY that they have to support the players, and if they dont it could be very dangerous. i can take the criticism. but it would be better if the players could take to the field with no added pressure. MY players need time to get Championship legs and Championship experience. They ARE good enough to play at this level and i believe in them. they will improve. if i just leave out the players ive brought in, and dont play them, it will ruin their confidence. its about experience." ---------- and heres a little snippet he said on day 1, on arrival.. "Barnsley was always the right club, the right challenge. i just needed to step back, to take time-out to assess and evaluate - and to make sure everybody here would be singing from the same hymn sheet. SUPPORT from the fans is ESSENTIAL. not just for me and Flicker, but more importantly the players." Say nay more! U REDS!
FEW of the fans have decided to boo us. THEY seem to have a memory loss, in terms of the success, this club has had in recent history FA Cup semi final and championship football. Recent history says that keith hill is talking out of his arse
Some fans have been spoilt by 97 - but the majority know that this is our level and we should be looking to hold our own.
Whitey, its called selective attention, unfortunately quite a lot of barnsley fans have it and seem that their at their happiest when they can moan, but apparently its ok because they pay to watch.
amen to that brother.. if they SUPPORTED like they moaned, we'd have an atmosphere.. rather than a morgue/library
Are you saying that our recent history agrees with keith hills comments that we shouldnt be in this league? I'd say championship football and an fa cup semi final suggests we very much should be in this league.
im not guna try arguing with u mate. but ur anti-BFC stance gets boring. i am happy with Hill. u obviously arent.. i agree to disagree, and now am off to feather, its been a long ol day...
What gets boring is people who will stick up for Hill no matter what and accuse others of being anti-BFC if they don't agree with every word Hill utters no matter how contradictory or non-sensicle. Hyperthetically,if we are relegated are you going to be saying 'Hill was right all along ,he said we are league 1 club and now he's been proved right because we've been relegated'!!. The fans didn't boo the players before the games , it was after the 'abysmal ' home performances( Luke Steeles assessment not mine) that provoked it. Time for Hill to take responsibility for the bad as well as the good performances, he is the manager after all.
