I've just watched the QPR goals and deary deary me what schoolboy defending. That 1st goal, the ball is thread through to a player with 4 Barnsley defenders infront of him and he still passes the ball into the net. Surely at least one of our defenders could spot the danger and make a move towards the guy to make a block or at least make it a bit more difficult for him to get the shot in. But no, our defenders seem to wait on each other and stand like statues. And that penalty. There was no need for a challenge to be made there. The QPR guy was running out of space and away from goal. Surely just shadowing him and keeping between him and the goal was all Crainie had to do, leaving other defenders to get back and defend the goal. Looks to me as if we lack belief in our own ability. Something Flicker has to sort out. Learn to be first to the ball and stop being spectators.
We can stand off oppenents better than us and watch them dismantle us every week or play high pressure football and show there in for a game. Our team is built for high instensity football.
Yep agree. McCourt very poor for their first. Thought the second wasn't a penalty though - blatant dive when he knew he had missed his chance.
Exactly Chef. As soon as forwards feel any contact what so ever they go down. About time the refs got tougher on this and wave away the soft penalties. There again if it was a Barnsley forward who went down I'd be shouting for a pen. But would we get it?
we play a team with an abundance of defensive players and its always the attacking midfielders that get blamed plus Wiseman of course
He needs a defensive coach/analyser to go over the mistakes with the players involved and to drill it in just what they need to be doing and didn't do because the system in place now is not working.
