If Welsh clubs can play in the English Leagues why are Celtic and Rangers not allowed in.

    Because they are Scottish!

The Welsh clubs were admitted to the Football League when there wasn't a seperate league in Wales. The development of the game in Scotland was different though.

Would say they shouldn't. They come under the Welsh FA, not English.

    NO!

I notice Ridsdale plans to kick up a storm if Cardiff aren't allowed into Europe - because the rules are against him.

it's another sad state of affairs in the current world - if the rules don't suit you, stamp your feet and get them changed. Well I don't like the speed limit being 70mph, it doesn't suit me so I'm going to kick and scream until they raise it to 150mph.

Won't work will it? Nope, cos I can't dictate the rules to suit my own circumstances I have to abide by the rules that ALL others have to. If Cardiff want to get into Europe then they should bugger off and play in their own country's league. They benefit greatly financially from being allowed to play in the English league - which brings up the questions about why we won't allow the Glasgow clubs to do the same surely - so if they don't like the fact that as part of that financial benefit, they are not allowed by the English FA to take one of the English spots in European competition - so bloody well be it.

They cannot have it both ways - either get to paly in Europe and play in your own league, or play in ours and get the financial rewards for doing so but accept that European places are not allowed. As for this plan to allow their reserves to play in the Welsh Cup to get Cardiff a European place - what an absolute farce that would be.

I wonder if Portsmouth win the final that Ridders will swear blind the ref was biased to avoid the FA having to deal with the issue anyhow.

I have no sympathy with CFC at all, no offence to any of their supporters who read this, but I'd support the FA not giving you a European place, and the Welsh FA have every right not to give you one either because you've not entered any of their competitions.

    Errr....

It was in the Guardian on Monday morning that UEFA may award them a "wild card" if they win the cup.

    YES of course they should

Whether you like it or not and for one reason or another Cardiff play in the English league and play in the English FA Cup.
What about Berwick. English town playing in Scotland. If they win the Scottish league or cup should they be banned?
In Ireland Derry play in the Eircom league (Rep of Ireland) but are situated in what is classed as Northern Ireland but if they win the Eircom they get into Europe as Eire champions. They have done a couple of times i think. The teams agree to the rules implemented by the football associations and the FA's agree to take them into their leagues.
Why cant people get over this? All this anti-Welsh crap isnt doing relations between the home nations any good is it?
It just smacks of jealousy and doesnt make our fans appear in a very good light. We lost the semi final, lets just move on.

Glad I did not have to say it

    But of course they should.
They could play in the welsh leage and qualify for Europe every year if they want.
But they took the big and brave gamble of playing in the FA cup.
Its hardly likely they are going to qualify for Europe this was very often is it!

    Ha ha ha ha

    Piss hole.
Looking out of my window over the sea now, its a rather beautiful piss hole.
Much as I love South Yorkshire and its people, I know which is the nicest place to live.
You may have a point with South Wales, but actually its not very different from you know where.

    Disagree

They should not be given the opportunity to enter Europe under TWO FA's, only one. I agree that winning the FA cup should allow them entry exactly the same as an English team but not until they leave the Welsh FA.
At the moment they could gain entry to Europe every year anyway as the Welsh FA could enter them, it is unfair that while they have that chance they should also gain a chance via the English FA.

Simple answer is this, leave the Welsh FA completly, forfeit the right to enter Europe via Wales and then yes, enter it via the English FA system. One or the other though, not both.

Hopefully a wildcard entry if they do. They should be allowed in as they deserve to be there if they win the cup, BUT I personally don't think it should be at the expense of an English team.

Then surely it should be using one of the Welsh places?

The Welsh FA can give the place to Cardiff if they choose to I do believe, it is entirely upto them (as Cardiff's ruling body) whether or not they decide them to be worthy of the place.

    RE: Disagree

How could the Welsh FA enter them when they don't compete in any Welsh competitions that give qualification?
