Gold angry at Mourinho suggestion Jose Mourinho's calls have angered David Gold Birmingham chairman David Gold has branded Jose Mourinho's call for Premiership reserve teams to play in the Football League "disrespectful." Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger backed Mourinho's plea for Chelsea reserves to play in the Football League. But Gold said: "Jose often talks about requiring respect, but this is disrespectful to Football League clubs. "It's not the Football League's problem if his players aren't getting enough competition," Gold told BBC Five Live. Mourinho claimed English football should follow the example of Spain, where big clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are allowed to field their B teams lower down the professional football ladder. The B teams cannot be promoted, and they are not allowed to enter Spanish cup competitions. Where would he expect his team to enter the League? Birmingham chairman David Gold Mourinho had said: "I would love to see it. "I can tell for sure that if that happened players like Lassana Diarra, Mikel John Obi, Salomon Kalou, when they are not selected for the first team, they have a competition to play in a different level. So they should have a look." Wenger echoed Mourinho's call, saying: "It's a very good idea. "I've said it many times because it happens in France. In France there is two divisions difference and you cannot come up.
no to automatically being allowed to play in the FL, but.......... yes if they start at the very bottom of the football pyramid like every other new club.
If they started in league 2 it would make a mockery of the whole football pyramid system and be a real kick in the teeth for lower league teams. If we weren't careful we could end with the championship being full of premier league 2nd teams.

RE: no to automatically being allowed to play in the FL, but.......... I suppose the only way they could do it is for them to buy a lower league team and that becomes their feeder team and reserve team. It won't happen here, it's notable that the only managers that are in favour are foriegn managers because it happens in other leagues, I can see their argument and their players get better experience. However, we have the loan system so maybe they should use that, as Man Utd do, to give their players the experience.
not ethical for a start what if they drew each other in a cup? or eventually in a league game? wont ever happen, just jose playing mind games, bet he'd **** himself if the fa said to ask to join the spl and let the jocks kick **** out of his 2nd string superstars every week
yeah in order for the reserves to play in the football league... we would like lampard, ballack, joey cole and robben please mr mourinho
RE: not ethical for a start The league game can't happen is Spain, France etc where they have B teams in lower leagues as the B team aren't allowed to be promoted to the top division. If the first team is relegated into the division the B team are in then the B team would be demoted. Shows how you would kill off support at lower division clubs if you allowed them to buy a lower league club and use them as their B team.
No, never. would completely undermine the football league teams.
It happens in other countries because their lower prfessional leagues are much weaker than ours.

RE: No, never. Not the smaller teams fault that they have bought too many players because they have too much money. The sooner the bottom falls out of football financing and some of the crooks now involved are sorted, the better the game will be.
shoul dput something back into the lower leagues with paid loanees! better imho! Then its not just the big club that benefits.
NO Definately not. I don't care what goes on in France and Spain if premiership reserve teams were allowed in any of the football league divisions it would make a complete mockery of the system and of the teams, such as ourselves, who have worked hard to achieve their position in said leagues. And, if Chelsea and Arsenal are allowed that will obviously open the floodgates for the rest and we will end up with a league just for reserves...but I was under the illusion we already had one, so Jose and Arsene should stop moaning and get on with beating Man U, which they should be more concerned with.
here in Norway the second sqaud of the best teams also play in the league system. But there have to 2 divisions between them. Rosenborg play in the Premiership and their B sqaud play in division 2. Here in Norway in work, but there is also less teams here than in england. So it is not fair to the other teams. In they could play as far up as Conference League maybe?
Scottish Clubs? Could be the way to go there perhaps. Take Morton over & supply players to them, no clash with Chelsea then?
