Had my pc for abot 6 or 7 years now and my connection seemed slow plus i only had a cable modem. Virgin Media guy has been round to investigate and replaced my modem as he said my old one was obsolete and that the reasonmy internet was slow was due to my tower. He suggested a laptop as a better option for a future purchase.
Would be interested to hear any opinion on this.

I am very much a dinosaur when it comes to technology (i bet my mobile phone is older than some who post on here) so i need to move with the times.

You would do well to take a look at these guys Matey

I have used them a couple of times in the past, and got great service. Their delivery time is rapid I now live near Cardiff. But for you it will please you to know that they in Huddersfield. So you could perhaps go there personally. I would not go really basic maybe a i5 processor. this will give plenty of space for expansion in the future as programmes may get more needy. Also processor speed get one that's at least 2.0, and a hard drive of 500+ you will have little bother with running most stuff. Screen size is up to you 15" is a s low as I would want for a laptop that is to be used as a main computer, personally I would go 17" (they do go up to 19") obviously the bigger means it gets heavier. I would be able to show you a very very decent machine that fits the basic specs I just said for well below £500

Re: depends what you wanna do matey

I got mine just before Christmas, we got 2 for works purposes. We paid £250 up front and we pay £25 a month but there both 3G and we have got a fair bit of data usage. Without checking I'd reckon for a new iPad (32gb) for use with wifi only would be around £400, they are brilliant though. If you've got sky sports download the sky go app and you can watch all the sports channels on the iPad, if the mrs is giving you grief you can sod off to bed and watch it on the iPad. Tip top mate
